C W Sellors Fine Jewellery ‘Millstone 70’ Collection – Celebrating 70 years of the Peak District
Seventy years ago, after decades of campaigning the Peak District became the UK’s original national park, designated on 17 April, 1951. That passion for the place continues to this day. These pieces are inspired by and a celebration of the Peak District, we’re delighted that CW Sellors are supporting the work of the Peak District National Park Foundation with this collection so our National Park landscapes thrive for future generations to enjoyCelebrating 70 years of the Peak District: Sarah Slowther
With proud links to the Peak District, C W Sellors have great pleasure in launching a new, limited-edition jewellery collection to celebrate 70 years of it being designated as the UK’s first National Park and help raise important funds for its vital upkeep.
The collection comprises a choice of two sizes of millstone pendant, adjustable bracelet and whale back cufflinks, with each piece a reflection of the natural beauty of the area with its world renowned and admired Derbyshire Blue John gemstone being at the heart of each design. Providing recognition to the important milestone achieved, each piece also features the number 70 subtly incorporated into the sterling silver metalwork.
Through any purchase from the collection, not only will you receive a jewellery piece that has been fully endorsed by the Peak District National Park Foundation and handcrafted within the area, but you will also be contributing to the Park’s conservation work and helping prepare the Park’s delicate habitats for a changing climate as C W Sellors are donating 10% of any sale to the Peak District National Park Foundation. From a single purchase from the Millstone 70 collection you could help fund two square metres of hay meadow restoration, or one square meter sphagnum moss – a climate change fighting superhero on the Peak District moors.
Having overseen the manufacture of the new collection, Rebecca Sellors explains her thoughts on the finished design – “We love working on commemorative designs and whilst of course we start with the connection to the event being celebrated, we also want to ensure any pieces created are elegant, wearable and are of the fine jewellery manufacturing standards our customers have come to expect. I really feel we have been able to achieve this with the Millstone 70 collection which, alongside marking the Park’s 70th anniversary, is also a celebration of one its greatest assets with each piece having been handcrafted with the finest Blue John gemstone.”
Whilst it is not the first time over the past 40 years C W Sellors have used inspiration from the area to craft one of their Blue John collections, it is their first time working with the Peak District National Park and which Sarah Slowther from Peak District National Park Foundation comments – “Seventy years ago, after decades of campaigning the Peak District became the UK’s original national park, designated on 17 April, 1951. That passion for the place continues to this day. These pieces are inspired by and a celebration of the Peak District, we’re delighted that CW Sellors are supporting the work of the Peak District National Park Foundation with this collection so our National Park landscapes thrive for future generations to enjoy.”

About the Peak District National Park Foundation
The Peak District National Park Foundation is a registered charity established to raise funds to care for The Peak District National Park and make it more inclusive.
“Our vision is a National Park enjoyed and conserved by everyone, forever. It should be a vibrant, colourful, and safe home for the wildlife we all love.
The Park’s heritage tells our story and inspires future generations, so let’s celebrate it.
Our right to enjoy the National Park was hard won by ordinary folk. In that spirit, let’s fight to make it ever more accessible, for everyone to enjoy.
But it is also unique and very fragile; we must always strive to keep it special.
This is what we believe – and why we exist. With your support, we can start to make good things happen.
Our Mission is to grow income and support to care for the Peak District National Park for everyone to enjoy forever.
Our aim is to raise funds and create a culture of philanthropy supporting the Peak District National Park.
We support activities which keep the Peak District special and make it a National Park for all. We connect people who care about the National Park and have the means to support it with the partners striving to care for this special place for everyone.
We want to see more land managed for wildlife, more rare habitats protected and more people able to enjoy the Peak District National Park”
