Biggin Hall Country House Hotel is a magnificent historic hotel, situated in the beautiful village of Biggin-by-Hartington.  We are proud to offer luxurious year-round bed and breakfast or full board accommodation in our stunning setting within the heart of the Peak District National Park.

The Hotel

Our Grade II listed building is full of historic charm, dating back to 1672.  Many of our stone mullioned leaded windows have only recently daylight again after their obliteration during the era of window taxes in the 1790s.  Biggin Hall has been renovated sympathetically, losing none of its original character, while ensuring that it has all the modern conveniences of the 21st Century.

Our Rooms

Our bedrooms are spacious and tastefully furnished.  The Master Suite has a luxurious four-poster bed.  In addition, there are six further bedrooms in the main house, all with their own bathrooms, and a suite of two rooms sharing an adjoining bathroom.  In our converted former outbuildings we have twelve further en-suite rooms.  All rooms have a colour TV, tea-making facilities and a silent fridge.

Our guests have a choice of two sitting rooms, one with a library, the other with a large, open fireplace.  There is a separate dining room.

Biggin Hall Country House Hotel is renowned for the quality of its food.  Our oak-beamed restaurant, with views across the lawn, is open to residents and non-residents for lunch and dinner daily.  The open fire, excellent cuisine and fine selection of wines all combine to create an unforgettable experience.  Many of our guests return year after year to sample our traditional home-cooking and the delights of our modern British cuisine.

We source our ingredients locally wherever possible, with an emphasis on free-range wholefoods and natural flavours, together with fresh, seasonal vegetables.  The focus of our extensive daily-changing menus is on simplicity and taste.  We always have a vegetarian option available.
We are happy to assist with any other special dietary requests, given prior notice.

In the bar we have a choice of real ales, guest beers, and superb house wines.  We have a highly-commended wine list to complement your meal.

For residents, a full English and Continental Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8.00am and 9.30am.

For residents and non-residents, we offer a delicious lunch menu on Tuesdays, Thursdays and at weekends, between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm.  Afternoon tea is served daily between 3.00pm and 5.00pm.  Dinner is served between 6.30pm and 8.00pm.

Special Events

Unfortunately the constraints imposed by a Grade II listed building have made it impossible for us to provide proper disabled access for any bedrooms or bathrooms.  Please note that there are small steps into the main house and between the sitting room and dining room.  There are also small steps outside all the Courtyard ground floor rooms.

We are dog-friendly!

We welcome well-behaved dogs in the Courtyard and ground floor rooms of the Lodge.  Please let us know at the time of booking if you wish to bring your dog with you, so that we can ensure you have a dog-friendly room.  We regret that dogs are not allowed in the main house, dining or sitting rooms.

Child Policy

We welcome children aged 12 and over.  We regret that Biggin Hall is not suitable for young children.
