Candle House by Muse Escapes is a beautifully restored candle factory, sleeping 7 people, just a three-minute stroll from the idyllic village of Castleton in the Peak District National Park. This breathtaking property has been sympathetically restored, retaining lots of its history, character and charm, with modern twists to provide the most exquisite, luxury holiday accommodation. The outside space at Candle House is just as enchanting as the inside, with a wonderful garden with a large lawn, fruit trees, a vegetable patch, a fabulous patio, hot tub, playhouse, an outside bar and the most stunning views towards Win Hill and Peveril Castle. It’s pet-friendly too, so your well-behaved pet can enjoy a little countryside relaxation with you.

The rooms at Candle House have each been individually designed with a rich, dark, warming décor. The elegant, timeless furniture and luxury fabrics, coupled with original thick stone walls and timber beams, create inviting spaces for guests to relax in and enjoy.
You will be captivated as soon as you enter Candle House’s entrance hall, which leads on to the most fabulous, rustic kitchen dining space. The kitchen instantly greets you with a taste of the history that lies within the exposed stone walls of Candle House. Again, the rich dark colours of the kitchen units complements the plush feel, with modern appliances and cookware to enable you to enjoy a home-from-home stay that’s like no other.
Also on the ground floor is a stylish shower room with toilet and hand basin, and a handy utility room.
The lounge at Candle House is situated on the first floor, to make the most of the spectacular views that can be enjoyed from the picture windows. The impressive stone walls and timber lintels are all are complemented further with wood flooring and the earthy tones of the numerous sumptuous sofas. This bright, spacious, room is a lovely place to relax with friends after a day exploring this fabulous area, either watching your favourite show on the flat screen TV or snuggled in front of the cosy wood burning stove.
There are four beautifully appointed bedrooms at Candle House, three king-sized and one small double, providing plenty of space for 7 adults. Each of the bedrooms has been individually styled to create luxury boutique rooms that have been lavishly designed and furnished.
The first of the bedrooms is on the first floor, whilst the remaining three rooms are on the second floor, with easy access to the impressive family shower room. This bright airy room has a large walk-in shower, with toilet and wash basin.
Guests also have the use of the second shower room and toilet on the ground floor.
The outdoor space at Candle House, with fruit trees and a vegetable patch, is like something from an enchanting story book, and something completely special and unique! Children and well-behaved dogs will have fun playing on the large lawn, while the grown-ups relax on the fabulous patio area with seating and sun loungers, taking in the fresh air and admiring the sweeping views beyond!
Whilst the children enjoy the lovely playhouse, the adults will have a great time in Candle House’s very own outside bar – The Shed! This is a fabulous space to gather with friends before retiring to the bubbling hot tub, with a glass of fizz, watching the sun set over the surrounding hills.
Candle House is simply spectacular, and its location is unbeatable too! Located in the heart of the popular village of Castleton, where narrow lanes are lined with pretty stone cottages, independent shops and a great selection of country pubs and inviting tea rooms.
Castleton is located on the border of the gritstone Dark Peak and the limestone White Peak areas of the Peak District. These intriguing landscapes surround the village on three sides, making it a walker’s paradise. There are many walks to enjoy here including the Castleton to Mam Tor Walk which is one of the most popular walks in the Peak District. It offers breathtaking views from the summit of Mam Tor, looking over the Hope Valley and Edale Valley, as a reward for a relatively easy climb. A hike to one of England’s earliest Norman fortresses, Peveril Castle, is another climb worth making, providing more of those stunning views over the Hope Valley.
Just a short distance away is Edale, which is the start/end of the Pennine Way, and also the gateway to Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, where you will discover waterfalls and rugged pathways.
For the more adventurous, there are many caves surrounding Castleton with underground show caverns making for a fabulous day out, no matter the weather or time of year.
