East Lodge is a beautiful old cottage in the most idyllic, peaceful location overlooking the River Wye and a pretty meadow, with a charming riverside footpath leading to the fabulous market town of Bakewell, which can be reached in just five minutes. This Grade II listed building, sleeping 4 people, has a traditional chocolate box feel with beautiful stonework, period windows and fragrant summer roses in the front garden. It’s dog-friendly too, with a secure garden.

Charming Country Living

The living accommodation at East Lodge has a charming country feel with wooden and stone floors, timber beams and many other features, including period windows, all of which overlook the lovely meadow and tranquil river.

The lounge is a cosy space, with two large sofas, providing plenty of space for everyone to snuggle up in front of the roaring wood burning stove, watching TV at the end of a day enjoying all that Bakewell and the surrounding villages has to offer.

The open plan kitchen at East Lodge continues that country feel with more timber beams, a beautiful storage dresser and a Belfast sink. There are also all modern appliances to enjoy a home-from-home stay including a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, fridge with small freezer, oven and hob. There is also a dining table, ideal for those who wish to dine in, however there are many cafes, bars and restaurants just a short stroll away in Bakewell.

Two Beautiful Bedrooms

East Lodge has two bright, airy bedrooms which have been decorated and furnished to provide charming, relaxing spaces. One of the rooms is a lovely double, with dual aspect windows overlooking the meadow, and a feature fireplace. The second bedroom is a twin room, making this ideal for families, or couples wishing to travel together.

Also on the first floor is a crisp, clean bathroom with both bath and shower, toilet and sink.

Two Lovely Outdoor Spaces

There are two outdoor spaces at East Lodge. There’s a yard to the rear of the cottage, and a fabulous, paved garden to the front of the cottage adorned with fragrant roses and beautiful cottage style planting. Here you will find a patio set and a barbecue, making it the ideal place to relax at any time of day, taking in the views of the meadow and river. The garden is secure, making it ideal for those who wish to bring dogs.

Fabulous Location

East Lodge is beautiful and its location is fabulous, which is why guests return year upon year! Being just a five minute walk into Bakewell is one of its very special features, although the handy location of the nearby Aldi, the local brewery with tap room just a short walk away, and being surrounded by many more wonderful villages are all great reasons to stay at East Lodge!

Bakewell is often referred to as the ancient capital of the Peak District and can be reached via a 5-minute riverside walk, through the meadow, from the garden at East Lodge. As you enjoy a leisurely stroll, you can spot rainbow trout in the clear tranquil waters of the River Wye. This small market town has a lovely feel with lots of historic buildings, hidden courtyards, stone cottages, together with a great selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a calendar full of seasonal events, making it a very popular Peak District town to visit.

Whilst the town of Bakewell itself is lovely, the surrounding countryside is equally as special, with many picturesque walks that can be enjoyed from East Lodge. From a chocolate box cottage, to a chocolate box village, why not enjoy a walk to the neighbouring village of Ashford in the WaterAshford-in-the-Water is renowned for its sheep wash bridge over the River Wye, and gorgeous little lanes, lined with pretty stone cottages, and is very popular with photographers. Here there is a pub and a popular tea rooms, and more beautiful walks to enjoy, such as the route via Monsal Dale.

East Lodge is also central to two of the most popular tourist attractions in the Peak District National Park. In just 12 minutes, you can be exploring Haddon Hall, one of the most beautiful medieval manor houses in England, or Chatsworth House with is fabulous landscaped gardens and deer park.

For those who enjoy cycling, East Lodge is just a stone’s throw from the Monsal Trail. This wonderful traffic-free path is great for all the family, stretching 8.5 miles between Bakewell and Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale, taking in some of the most picturesque areas of the Peak District National Park, such as Millers Dale and Cressbrook, passing over the impressive viaduct at Monsal Head. For those without bikes, don’t worry, these can be hired at Hassop, where there is also another fabulous tea room and gift shop.
