Field House Cottage is a beautiful stone-built cottage that dates back to 1650. It has been lovingly refurbished to an incredibly high standard and offers luxurious flexible accommodation for up to 6 people.
Whether you’re a keen walker, climber, cyclist or just enjoy making the most of the great outdoors, Field House Cottage is perfectly located. It is nestled next to the rocky crags of Hen Cloud and The Roaches with easy access in to the Peak District National Park.
Field House Cottage has its own access into the spacious, airy kitchen/dining room, equipped with fitted oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher, plus microwave, kettle and toaster (there is a shared freezer available too).
Next door is a comfortable sitting room with lovely views over the garden. In the sitting room you’ll find a TV/DVD, radio/iPod dock and a selection of books and games. WiFi is available throughout the property.
Head upstairs and you’ll find two bright, fresh bedrooms. The main bedroom has a flexible zip/link Super King or twin bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. A cot can be provided if needed. All bed linen is included.
Extra accommodation is also offered with an additional sofa bed in the living room.
The bathroom is upstairs and well fitted out with combined bath/shower, WC and sink. Towels are provided.
Outside at Field House Cottage
Field House Cottage adjoins the owners’ own home, meaning that Olivia and George are on hand to ensure you have everything you need. They can also help with access to the washing/drying room and the garages for storage of bikes and climbing gear.
Outside at Field House Cottage you’ll find a large garden, which includes a lake with an island, a pond and numerous areas for picnics. Wildlife abounds, and this is the perfect spot to while away an afternoon in peace and quiet.
Please note, due to the open water, dam and rocks in the garden, children should be supervised at all times.
Closer to the cottage there are two lovely patios off the kitchen, one to the front and one to the back, which are perfect for barbecues or for sitting out and watching the birds. There is ample parking space in the driveway for guests’ cars.
Please note, there are dogs, cats and chickens on site so unfortunately the owners are unable to accept pets to stay in Field House Cottage. For the comfort of all guests, this is a non-smoking property.
Field House Cottage is situated in a secluded spot half a mile off the public road down an unmade single farm track with passing places. After wet or wintry weather it can be a bit of a bumpy ride so care should be taken driving down it.
Field House Cottage is located close to The Roaches which form the south western tip of the Pennines, between the bustling towns of Leek in Staffordshire and Buxton in Derbyshire.
The Roaches offer some of the best gritstone climbing in the UK. Equally fell runners and hikers can enjoy great routes that cross the dramatic rocky ridge directly from the cottage.
Head to the legendary and mysterious Lud’s Church, or take in the views from Hen Cloud or Ramshaw Rocks, where generations of photographers and artists have taken inspiration.
There are lots of outdoor activities for you and your family and friends to experience during your stay in the Peak District National Park, including abseiling, caving, climbing, cycling, hiking, horse riding and fell/trail running. Ask when booking for recommendations of local activity providers.
Ashbourne and Bakewell are both approximately 30 minutes away by car, and the treasures of the Peak District are easily accessible beyond.
