About Your Hosts

The Hackett family can’t wait to welcome you to Manor House Farm Cottages!  They moved to this stunning location from Nottingham, where they had lived for 26 years and happily raised their children.  It’s safe to say that a move to a sheep farm in the Peak District was a massive change!  They’d always dreamt of moving to Derbyshire for its beautiful countryside and walking, and they feel it has definitely lived up to their expectations.

Manor House Farm Cottages

When they arrived, Manor House Farm consisted of the farmhouse, a range of old stone barns, two agricultural barns and 50 acres of land.  With no farming background at all, they had to learn a lot, quickly.  But they rose to the challenge and now have a flock of 140 sheep, including 6 charming Southdowns and 8 beautiful Jacobs.

The family’s plans from the outset were to convert the courtyard of stone barns into luxury holiday accommodation that they could manage from their doorstep.  They began a loving and sensitive programme of restoration, retaining as much of the character of the original buildings as possible, yet still providing modern luxury. They have been open for visitors since April 2019. They love their surroundings so much and want to share the beauty of the Peak District with others.
