Moorland Treks – 12 Years Plus – March to November

The treks at Peaky Pacas are really special, providing a three-hour experience that you’re sure to love. Starting in Holymoorside, on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, you will be greeted by the comical characters – and that’s just the owners! The lovely ladies at Peaky Pacas have so many interesting facts to share with you about their cheeky alpacas, from their origins, to the benefits of their dense fleece, to their crazy toileting habits. You’ll be amazed at all the different personalities, from girls full of attitude and mischief to the boys living it large and turning on the charm!

Before setting out on your trek, you’ll be given some reassuring pointers to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable walk, and you’ll be paired up with your newfound furry friend.

The trek takes you through the most beautiful moorland. Although on the edge of the Peak District National Park, you feel miles from anywhere in this beautiful, peaceful setting, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Who knows what your alpaca will get up to?! Will yours insist on being leader of the pack, walking at the front, or will he be the silly one that chooses to roll in the bracken?! Either way, there are sure to be lots of photo opportunities!

Halfway into the trek you’ll be able to secure your alpaca and fuss pet sheep at a lovely stop off point for coffee and scrumptious homemade cake. All while having a friendly chat with the lovely hosts and others that may be joining you on your trek. Again, in a beautiful location, with views of the surrounding countryside, you can get lost in your thoughts, embracing all the relaxing benefits this beautiful location has to offer.

Finally, you’ll then head back to the Peaky Pacas ranch in Holymoorside, where you’ll have the chance to feed the alpacas, who get up close and personal, and get to discover more about their fabulous traits.

Please note, people with limited mobility can be catered for too.

Location

So, where can you get to meet the Peaky Pacas crew?

Holymoorside is a peaceful village, surrounded by miles and miles of open countryside and stunning moorland, just 7 miles from Chatsworth House. Despite being away from the usual Peak District hotspots, in just 15 minutes you can be in the picturesque villages of Beeley and Edensor, spending time with more furry friends visiting the highland cows on Baslow Edge, or enjoying fish and chips in the ‘’seaside town’’ of Matlock. For those who fancy browsing the shops after your visit, the wonderful town of Bakewell, with a selection of independent shops, cafes and bars, is just a 20-minute drive away.  The list of places to explore or stay before or after your visit, is just endless. However, for those looking for close accommodation, check out Harewood Holiday Lets – two fabulous onsite cottages, each sleeping 2 people. Of course, you may get a few inquisitive visitors to the garden during your stay too!
