Aaaah, the wonders of the British summertime … and particularly on an August Bank Holiday weekend. Rain. Lots of it. But even the very wettest of Peak District weather didn’t dampen the spirits of those who headed to the inaugural Tribute Tipi Fest in Castleton this weekend. And they were rewarded with a brilliant atmosphere, fabulous bands and great food – all in the stunning setting of Winnats Pass.
The team at Prestige Events hosted a cracker of a festival this weekend, with hugely talented tribute bands covering a wide range of genres, from Robbie Williams to Abba. Most of them were pretty indistinguishable from the real thing, and it’s a rare treat to be able to dance to Queen, Oasis and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers all in the one afternoon.
A string of beautiful tipis, lit by fairy lights and furnished with tables and straw bales, kept the revellers (and the well-stocked bar) dry and cosy between acts. There were stone-baked pizzas and a BBQ to keep everyone fuelled, and a face-painter to keep everyone glittery. Even the loos were clean.
All in all, a great first event for this brilliant tribute festival in the Peak District. We can’t wait to see them return next year … and let’s hope the sun shines!
