Beech and Birch Cottages are two beautiful self-catering cottages, each sleeping up to 7 people. They are located in the heart of the picturesque village of Hartington, right next to the pretty village church.
Beech and Birch Cottages enjoy a peaceful location in Hartington with wonderful views, yet are only 200m away from all the amenities of this popular village, with its charming shops, pubs, restaurants – even a village duckpond.
Beech and Birch Cottages are three-storey properties located next to each other, each accommodating up to 7 people. The cottages can be booked individually or together, making them a perfect choice for larger families or groups to stay next door to each other.
Beech Cottage and Birch Cottage both have pretty lawned gardens with garden furniture and barbecues, allowing you to enjoy al fresco dining. Each cottage has private off-street parking for one car and there is ample additional parking on a quiet adjacent road. Secure locked storage for bikes etc is also available.
The cottages are owned and maintained by owners Fred and Lesley Birch; Fred and Lesley have lived in Hartington all their lives and are on hand to help should you need them. They have a wealth of local information and can offer help and advice about activities or local places to visit.
Please note that, for the comfort of all guests, smoking is not allowed in either cottage. We regret that pets are also not allowed.
Beech Cottage has space for up to 7 guests in three bedrooms. There is a spacious King Size room and a single room on the first floor, as well as a Family room with a double bed and two singles on the second floor. The family bathroom is located on the ground floor and features a bath and shower, hand basin and WC.
Downstairs, the comfortable lounge is warm and cosy with an open fire, perfect for relaxing with after a day exploring in this beautiful area. An unlimited supply of coal and logs is provided, so you can be assured of a cosy stay all year round.
The fully-equipped kitchen contains everything you could possibly need for cooking up a feast, with an oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Seating is available for up to 7 people. The kitchen also benefits from underfloor heating.
Birch Cottage sleeps 6 + 1 guests in three bedrooms. There is a King Size bedroom and a single room on the first floor (the single room actually has a double bed, but can only be accessed from one side). On the second floor there is a Family room with a King Size bed and a single bed – this room also has its own ensuite bathroom with WC and basin. The family bathroom is situated on the first floor and has a bath with overhead shower, hand basin and WC.
The comfortable, cosy living room has a wood-burning stove, together with an unlimited supply of logs to keep you warm all year round. The fully-equipped kitchen has an oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, along with seating for up to 7 people.
The lovely village of Hartington sits in the White Peak of the Peak District National Park and is an ideal base to explore the local area. Excellent walking is available directly from the door of Beech and Birch Cottages; Wolfscote Dale through to Dove Dale, Biggin Dale, and Pilsbury Hollow are favourites with locals and visitors alike.
Cycle hire can be found at Parsley Hay Station on the Tissington Trail, approximately 3 miles from the village. From here you can cycle to Ashbourne on the Tissington Trail, or to Cromford on the High Peak Trail. In addition the Monsal Trail is just a few miles away. All trails are disused railway lines, traffic-free and ideal for all the family.
Only slightly further afield, the historic Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is just a 30 minute drive away. The House and its spectacular gardens are well worth a visit, and the farm park and adventure playground will keep kids of all ages entertained for hours. The romantic Haddon Hall, a beautiful medieval manor house, is just 20 minutes away.
The pretty towns of Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Leek are all within easy reach by car and offer a wealth of independent shops, as well as more recognised names, pubs, cafes and places of interest.
