Short Walks in the Peak District, ideal short walks for kids
Walking in the Peak District is a fantastic activity for you and your kids. It’s free, you can be spontaneous and it’s a great way to spend quality time together. Our walks are designed to bring out a little bit of adventure, they are great for picnics, and they are great for people of all ages.
The great thing is, everybody knows how to walk, and as soon as your child has mastered the art, they are ready for a short walk in the Peak District, and it is one of the easiest ways to be physically active throughout life, so nurture them young into good habits. You can do it virtually anywhere without special or walking expensive gear – just a comfortable pair of boots.
Kids (of all ages) love walking because:
- It’s fun and interesting – you get to notice things along the way, feel the textures of rocks, spot wildlife, see a rainbow, find things to collect
- It’s sociable – children love walking with their family and friends, they can talk, laugh and find new things to talk about along the way
- It makes them feel good – the exercise of walking makes them feel happier and it improves concentration, and general feeling of wellbeing
