Two Luxury, Romantic Retreats

At Peak Barns in Grindon you will find two adorable romantic retreats! The first is Little Barn, the most charming stone barn, perfectly positioned in its very own meadow field at the end of a pretty country lane, providing pure privacy and tranquility. The second is Harewood Cottage, a beautiful converted stable, with lots of original features and its own gated courtyard and private garden. With an elevated position, both of these unique properties have stunning views over the surrounding Manifold Valley, with miles of footpaths right from the door leading to other picturesque villages, many with that all-important village pub! Although private, Little Barn and Harewood Cottage are close by, so they’re ideal for couples travelling together too.

If you’re arranging a minimoon, a romantic trip or just a relaxing break in the countryside, then Little Barn and Harewood Cottage at Peak Barns are the perfect hideaways for you to enjoy.

Little Barn

You will be wowed as soon as you arrive at Peak Barns’ Little Barn! Accessed by a field gate at the end of a country lane, you will find Little Barn surrounded by its own private meadow field, with stunning views in every direction, perfect for watching the sunrise in the morning with a coffee listening to the birdsong, and watching the sunset in the evening, snuggled under the reindeer skins with a glass of complimentary champagne.

The exterior of Little Barn retains all its original 16th Century features, yet inside you will find a contemporary space that has been finished to the highest standard with lots of thoughtful touches and eco heating.

On the ground floor is a gorgeous open plan living space with large sofa and lots of luxurious soft furnishings, and an immaculate kitchen with everything you could need including dishwasher, larder fridge, electric oven and hob, and microwave.

The curved oak stairwell leads to a delightful, airy bedroom with floating double bed with those wonderful views over the countryside, and stylish glass floor panels.  On the same floor there is also a quaint shower room with hot power shower.

Outside, surrounded by the meadow field, you can enjoy uninterrupted views from the picnic bench, or from the patio with its Indian fire bowl.

Harewood Cottage

Harewood Cottage at Peak Barns is simply stunning! Bright and airy yet really cosy with many original features, including original brickwork, beautiful timber beams and deep window lintels. With its own courtyard and gorgeous private cottage garden, Harewood Cottage has everything you could hope for in a traditional Peak District Cottage, with the bonus of lots of luxurious, modern features and thoughtful touches.

On the ground floor the vaulted lounge has a large sofa, with smart TV, wireless speaker and wood burning stove, perfect for snuggling up after a day exploring this fabulous area of the Peak District National Park. There is also a spacious dining kitchen with fridge-freezer, dishwasher, electric oven/hob, microwave and coffee machine, providing everything you need for a home-from-home stay. Next to the kitchen is a stylish bathroom with bath and over-bath rain shower.

Up the winding staircase you will find a lovely double bedroom with more of those timber beams, plenty of storage and of course those fantastic views. Harewood Cottage also has the bonus of a sofa bed on the mezzanine and another washroom, so an extra guest can be accommodated if required.

Outside you can enjoy the private cottage garden with patio furniture, Indian fire bowl, ambient lighting, and BBQ, together with a large garden area with more of those magnificent views across the Manifold Valley. A romantic paradise!
