Owner and chef, Mark Aisthorpe, has transformed The Bulls Head, Holymoorside into a welcoming, friendly, fine dining restaurant and bar, showcasing exquisite tasting and a la carte menus, producing modern British cuisine.  With emphasis on seasonal, farm to table dishes, The Bulls Head, Holymoorside use local produce and locally foraged delights to produce to the most exquisite meals, resulting in winning 3 coveted AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, and now a finalist in the Great British Pub Awards for Best Pub for Food!

Always keen to share his skills and attract new talents for the future, Mark also hosts regular workshops such as valentines’ classes and seasonal canopies.

There are three luxurious ensuite rooms available at The Bulls Head, Holymoorside, receiving 5 AA Stars!  Contemporary, yet traditional and charming, the rooms make the most wonderful place to stay and explore this hidden area on the edge of the Peak District National Park, just five miles from the Chatsworth Estate.

Culinary Star – Mark Aisthorpe

Owner and chef, Mark Aisthorpe, is known by many for appearance on the BBC TV show, Great British Menu. where Mark proudly reached the regional final!  Previously working in Michelin star restaurants and alongside the likes of Gordon Ramsey and Marcus Wareing, Mark has deservedly earned himself three AA Rosettes for culinary excellence and flair.  Mark’s aim is ‘’to give traditional British food the elegance of a contemporary fine dining experience’’, and this wonderful concept can be enjoyed at The Bulls Head, Holymoorside!

Mark is also a Knorr Professional Ambassador and can often be seen sharing his passion and talents at shows such at Chatsworth Country Fair and Bakewell County Festival.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, The Bulls Head, Holymoorside, is ideal for foraging.  This together with an abundance of local farms, enables Mark and his team to adapt the ‘’farm to table’’ concept to produce the freshest, most seasonal dishes from very local suppliers.

The Bulls Head, Holymoorside’s Signature Tasting menus, exquisite A La Carte menus and Sunday Lunch can be enjoyed in the restaurant, where guests can sample these culinary delights as part of a relaxed, dining experience.  There is also a selection of smaller children’s portions and vegetarian options, and other dietary requirements can be accommodated on request.   As you would expect, there is also an excellent wine menu to suit all tastes and compliment all dishes!

The restaurant itself is a sophisticated, yet welcoming space with wooden floors and original features, providing a charming place together with friends and family.  Likewise, the bar area is traditional and modern, where you can call in to enjoy a refreshing drink, or lighter meal from the bar.

Remember, dogs are welcome in selected areas, so remember to mention when you book, so that you can bring them along too!

Workshops, Events and Packages

The Bulls Head, Holymoorside offer a fabulous selection of packages such as excellent stay and dine packages, including an overnight stay, breakfast, and a meal from either the tasting or a la carte menus.  There are also seasonal offers, including a Christmas stay with a feast of meals to enjoy, as well as festive tasting menus.

Be sure try out the Wine Flight £50, where each course is expertly paired with one wine. There is always a great range available from classical wines such as 2010 Vintage Haut-Médoc Cru – Bordeaux, through to unusual wines such as a Lebanese High Altitude using Obeidy grapes, and not forgetting some amazing English wines too.

Here you will also find the up-and-coming workshops, hosted by Mark himself as he showcases his talents, demonstrating his passion, and patiently coaches a selection of skills, in workshops such as Seasonal Canopies and Valentines Classes.

Luxurious Rooms with 5 AA Stars!

The rooms at The Bull’s Head Holymoorside, compliment its 1881 heritage, retaining original features such as stone walls and timber beams to create charming spaces to relax and unwind in this peaceful location.  There are three delightful rooms available, all uniquely decorated and furnished with elegance and style, using locally produced timber furniture, and luxury linens.

The double rooms are spacious and welcoming, and each have either double or king-sized beds and ensuite shower rooms.  Two have the added luxury of gorgeous copper baths.  Each of the rooms also include free parking, flat screen TV, free WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, and more! 

Remember, one of the rooms is dog friendly too, perfect for your pampered pooch!

Location

Holymoorside was the perfect location for Mark when looking to buy his own restaurant.  This peaceful village, on the edge of the Peak District National Park is surrounded by miles open countryside and stunning moorland!  There are numerous footpaths to enjoy from The Bulls Head, Holymoorside, and many that pass by, making it ideal for staying residents to enjoy the area, but also for walkers calling in for a drink or lunch. 

Just a fifteen minute drive from Chatsworth, you can visit Chatsworth House itself or wander around the fabulous gardens and grounds, or have a stroll to one of the other pretty Chatsworth villages such as Edensor and Beeley.   Another beautiful place to visit nearby is Haddon Hall, a beautiful medieval manor house, with fabulous, landscaped gardens, and medieval park, which can be reached in just twenty minutes. 

Likewise, the market town of Bakewell, with a selection of independent shops, cafes and bars and the traditional ‘’seaside town’’ of Matlock, are both just a short drive away.   For those that enjoy walking in the Peak District National Park, in just 15 minutes you can be exploring the rugged gritstone edges of Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow.

Although The Bulls Head, Holymoorside is regarded as a hidden gem, in a peaceful village, the list of nearby places to visit is endless, making it a great place stay, or to book for lunch or an evening meal, or class whilst visiting the fabulous area!!
