About The Nook
The Nook is a surprisingly spacious Peak District cottage, with three bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people, so it’s ideal for larger families or two smaller families wanting to share. There’s even room for a well-behaved dog too!
With plenty of original features and the luxuries of a wood-burning stove and free Wi-Fi, The Nook offers a mix of old and new to give a cosy, homely feel.
Accommodation at The Nook
The Nook’s lounge is light and airy with two comfortable sofas – perfect for gathering around the wood-burner whilst listening to the free Amazon music, or watching your favourite shows on the Smart TV.
The dining kitchen has plenty of storage and all the essential utensils and electrical appliances, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. The dining table seats six, so it’s ideal for those nights you choose to eat in – perhaps to enjoy all your purchases from the annual Tideswell Food Festival in May, which is literally on your doorstep!
On the first floor you’ll find two of The Nook’s three bedrooms. One is furnished with a comfortable double bed, and one with bunkbeds. The third bedroom, with a king-sized bed, is on the second floor with exposed timber beams and sloping roof, giving a real cosy feel.
All bedrooms are fitted with pine wardrobes and matching chests of drawers, providing plenty of storage for those choosing to visit for a longer stay. They also each come with their own TV, HD ready, perfect for the children wanting to bring their Xbox or play station for any rainy days.
The bathroom is located on the first floor with bath and overhead shower.
With gas central heating throughout and thick stone walls, The Nook is warm and snug all year round.
Free roadside parking is available directly outside the cottage, and the shared yard has a bench and lockable shed for storing bikes, pushchairs, etc.
The Nook Location
The lovely Peak District village of Tideswell has all the amenities you could wish for, some only a minute’s walk away from The Nook. You’ll be spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink, with four pubs and a fine dining restaurant within the village, plus a butcher, a baker, a general store, fish and chip shops, tea rooms and gift shops. The kids will love it here too – The Nook has a playground and field right next door.
Tideswell is also home to the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, a magnificent church built entirely in the 14th Century.
Tideswell’s annual food festival takes place at the end of the street every May. It’s well worth a visit, with a huge choice of delicious, locally-produced food and drink, plus other activities. If you’re visiting in June watch out for Tideswell Wakes Week, a much older village tradition, dating back almost 750 years. It coincides with the village’s annual Well Dressing ceremony and the church’s Festival for St John the Baptist.
On the outskirts of the village is the beautiful Nature Reserve of Tideswell Dale. This is a lovely, sheltered limestone gorge, part of the Wye Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest, designated for its geology and distinctive grasslands and woodlands. It is home to many species of wild flowers and butterflies, including small heath and common blue. A little further and you’ll walk into the stunning Cressbrook Dale and Miller’s Dale, plus the traffic-free Monsal Trail is close by too, perfect for cycling.
The pretty village of Litton is only a quick stroll away down a country lane. It has another gorgeous village pub with seating overlooking the village green, and a shop/tearoom owned and run by local residents.
