Right on the shores of the beautiful Winscar Reservoir, high in the peaceful hills to the north of the Peak District National Park, you’ll find Windleden Farm. Here are three lovingly refurbished holiday cottages providing luxury accommodation surrounded by peace, quiet and wildlife.
Windleden Farm Holiday Cottages provide the ideal base for those wanting a completely rural getaway, enjoying the stunning local landscape and exploring the Peak District and Yorkshire.
Windleden Farm Accommodation
The three luxury holiday cottages at Windleden Farm have all been completed and furnished to a very high standard, offering a variety of accommodation to suit couples, families or friends travelling together.
You can bring your dog to join in the fun here too – dogs are welcome in Shepherd’s Nook. We know they’ll love their Peak District holiday here as much as you will!
Water’s Edge (Sleeps 2-4)
Water’s Edge is a delightful cottage which sleeps 2-4 people, with a double bedroom and an additional sofa bed in the lounge.
The open plan lounge/diner has patio doors, providing wonderful views over nearby Windleden Reservoir. On colder days you can snuggle up in front of the TV, with the warmth of the underfloor heating. The crisp, clean kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge-freezer and all other essentials. There is also a downstairs toilet.
The first-floor bedroom has a lovely cottage feel with its high ceiling and original beams. It has plenty of storage with a walk-in wardrobe and oak bedroom furniture. On the first floor there is also a bathroom with toilet, bath, over-bath shower, and vanity unit.
Outside, you can make the most of the fabulous water’s edge views from the private patio area that leads straight from the lounge.
Shepherd’s Nook (Sleeps 2-3)
The second of the Peak District holiday cottages at Windleden Farm is the beautiful Shepherd’s Nook, which has two bedrooms, sleeping 2-3 people, plus you can also bring your well-behaved dog too!
The downstairs has a bright, airy, country feel, with its open-plan lounge/kitchen and dining area. Again, the large window lets in so much light and provides more stunning views, this time over Bord Hill Moor. The lounge at Shepherd’s Nook also comes with the bonus of a wood-burning stove for cosy nights in after a day exploring in the Peak District countryside. The bright kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, and large fridge freezer.
The two bedrooms, one double and one single, both on the first floor, have the benefit of characteristic timber beams, continuing that country feel, and again have plenty of storage. They both share the bathroom with large shower enclosure.
Outside there is a patio area shared with the neighbouring cottage of Woodlands Clough, which has wonderful views over the water and surrounding hills.
Woodland’s Clough (Sleeps 4)
The delightful Woodland’s Clough sleeps 4 people in two double ensuite bedrooms. This property is full of original features, including timber beams throughout the first floor.
The open-plan living accommodation has two large windows on either side, allowing light to flood in, and offering views to both Bord Hill Moor and the attractive courtyard. Again, Woodland’s Clough has the added luxury of a wood-burning stove to keep you cosy on cool evenings. Like the other two cottages at Windleden Farm, the kitchen is bright, clean and airy with a dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge freezer.
Outside, there is a patio shared with Shepherd’s Nook, with views over the stunning countryside.
Windleden Farm Location
Windleden Farm’s remote, rural location means that you’re always surrounded by peace and quiet here, with countryside that’s a haven for wildlife, as well as for the resident sheep on this working farm!
Situated in the north of the Peak District National Park, it’s ideal for exploring Yorkshire too. One of the most popular, closest villages is Holmfirth, famous for the filming of ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, and boasting a number of wonderful pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops.
Within just over half an hour you can be in Bakewell, in the heart of the Peak District, famed for its independent shops and sweet puddings, as well as its proximity to the country house estates of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
This is superb walking country, with footpaths literally from the door into the hills, or around the shores of the beautiful Winscar Reservoir. The farm is located within 300 metres of the Trans Pennine Way, making it an ideal destination for walkers and cyclists.
