‘’Break down confidence and financial barriers that prevent women from getting outside, trying new things, and meeting new people!’’

Women Outdoors 1

Inspiring Women of all Ages and Abilities

Women Outdoors inspires women of all ages, of all abilities, to connect with nature and each other through a collection of walks and outdoor activities in the breathtaking Peak District National Park and other beautiful parts of the UK and abroad.

There are so many physical and mental health benefits to spending time in the countryside, and Women Outdoors has a passion to share that with other friendly, fun-loving women, helping them develop new skills, encouraging them to understand the flora and fauna that surrounds them, whilst exploring the most amazing places!

Women Outdoors

There’s nothing more uplifting than watching the world come alive whilst watching the sunrise, or the relaxing feeling of watching it set. The sounds, sights and smells of the world awaking are truly invigorating. Imagine the sounds of heartening bird song, a gently rustling breeze in the trees, or a tranquilly cascading stream, and the smells of dewy grass or the fresh scent of pine trees and meadow flowers. And imagine the feeling of success as you complete that short walk with other encouraging ladies, or as you reach the summit of a mountain, you previously thought unachievable!

Women Outdoors 2

Women Outdoors wants all women to be able to experience this by offering a selection of free and affordable events with concessionary pricing. They want to help women reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, whilst increasing fitness levels, self-esteem, and a passion and understanding of the beautiful countryside that’s available to each and every one of them.

Uplifting Experiences

All events at Women Outdoors are led by certified guides and instructors here in the breathtaking Peak District National Park, the neighbouring rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, the magnificent Lake District, stunning Snowdonia, and some of the most beautiful countryside abroad.

Founder, Emma, has teamed up with likeminded, professional, outdoor enthusiasts to provide a diverse selection of enriching activities, from leisurely walks in the countryside, invigorating wild swims, fun-filled paddle boarding, challenging hikes and climbs, to relaxing yoga gatherings.

Women Outdoors provides one free event per month, so these wonderful experiences really are available to everyone! Their mission is to ensure all women who are experiencing physical, mental or financial challenges are supported to move their lives forward through access to life enhancing outdoor opportunities. Current funding is used to offer a 75% price reduction on all hiking and wild swimming events, for ladies who meet the concessionary criteria. Women Outdoors is proud to have also teamed up with Women’s Aid to facilitate a hiking event in the Peak District each month for women staying in local refuges.

Monthly Activities

Women Outdoors has a great calendar of monthly events, from short hikes lasting a few hours to adventures that cover a whole weekend. Most of the day events are here in the Peak District National Park. Their expert leaders will patiently encourage and lead you and other determined women to enjoy a host of outdoor activities.

Meet to watch the sun rise at the summit of Mam Tor on a four-mile hike, a relatively easy climb with one of the most rewarding views over the Edale Valley and Hope Valley. Or maybe discover the gritstone edges of the White Peak on a fairly level walk along Curbar, White and Froggatt Edges, providing panoramic views over the moorlands of the Peak District.

Embrace the invigorating benefits of a wild water swim in some of the UK’s most beautiful waters, such as picturesque Three Shires Head, where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire all meet at an 18th Century packhorse bridge with two waterfalls that cascade into idyllic pools.

Perhaps you’d like to brave something completely different and giggle your way through learning the benefits of paddle boarding on the stunning Ladybower Reservoir, or maybe the thrill of rock climbing? For those looking to learn new skills, there are also a selection of courses such as navigational skills, where you will learn the fundamentals of map reading, how to use a compass and how to navigate yourself to some beautiful hidden gems.

Women Outdoors 5

For those of you who would like to restore and reset, there are mini wellness retreats which include a day of walking, forest bathing and yoga.

These are just examples of the monthly events available through Women Outdoors. A full list of up-and-coming events can be found here! What are you waiting for?! Get yourself booked on!

Weekend Adventures

Women Outdoors also offers a selection of weekend trips, slightly further afield to other parts of the UK’s stunning countryside.

Allow their expert mountain leaders guide you to the summit of England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike in the Lake District National Park, on a truly rewarding journey. You will experience the most spectacular panoramic views and gain perspective on this remarkable landscape, and if you’re up for it, enjoy a wild swim in one of the Lake District’s many tarns. The weekend will include two nights’ accommodation, breakfast, games, and guaranteed memories of self-achievement!

Women Outdoors 8

Maybe paddleboarding is your thing? Why not join Women Outdoors for another weekend of adventure, challenging yourself to conquer Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, before rewarding yourself with a paddleboarding session on the calming waters near Llanberis?

Fancy a real challenge?! Head for Yorkshire with the ladies for Yorkshire’s Three Peaks Challenge!

Again, these are some examples of the kind of weekend trips that can be enjoyed through Women Outdoors. The full list of up-and-coming weekend events can be found here!
