Bankside Cottage is a beautiful pet-friendly cottage, sleeping up to 6 guests, in the peaceful village of Milldale, undoubtedly one of the most picturesque spots in the Peak District National Park. The enchanting River Dove flows just a stone’s throw away, where you can enjoy relaxing strolls along its banks through the stunning limestone valley of Dovedale and onwards to the iconic Dovedale Stepping Stones, one of the most beloved natural sites in England! Bankside Cottage provides guests with use of four bikes so visitors can choose to enjoy peaceful cycling trails and walks right from the door, or simply meander through this charming village feeding ducks by the river!
Bankside Cottage is a cosy, welcoming cottage with lots of original features, including timber beams and charming period windows. The lounge is full of warmth and charm with an open range fire and comfy sofas, perfect for snuggling down for a cosy evening. Relax with a book or watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV with cable and satellite options, a DVD player, and a Blu-Ray player, after a day exploring this beautiful area.
The kitchen at Bankside Cottage continues that country cottage feel with oak cupboards and an amazing Everhot cooker. This fabulous cooker is easy to use and keeps the kitchen warm and toasty during the cooler months. The kitchen also has a microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and all the pots and pans you could need for a home-from-home stay.
There’s also a separate dining area with a large dining table, so plenty of space for everyone to enjoy breakfasts, meals and board games together.
The handy utility room has a toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer, and it’s also the perfect space for drying off your furry friends and storing those muddy walking boots after your adventures in the Peak District!
There are three bright and airy bedrooms at Bankside Cottage, with crisp clean décor and stylish furniture. There’s a master bedroom with super-king bed, a double room featuring original stone walls, and a box room with bunk beds which the children will love. These three rooms make Bankside Cottage perfect for families or couples wishing to travel together.
There is a modern family bathroom with underfloor heating, with a toilet, sink, large corner shower and separate bath so you can enjoy a relaxing soak at the end of your day.
Bankside Cottage’s charming outdoor area has patio seating for six and is the perfect spot for both a quiet morning coffee, listing to the birdsong, and alfresco family meals cooked on the charcoal barbecue at the end of a fun-filled day.
But the outdoor fun doesn’t stop there! Bankside Cottage comes equipped with secure bike storage, as well as complimentary use of three adult bikes and one child’s bike – complete with helmets, of course! Explore the charming village and surrounding quiet lanes, or maybe head out to the nearby traffic-free Tissington Trail.
There is also one dedicated parking space for your car right by the cottage, with additional nearby parking available for another vehicle.

Just a 2.5 mile stroll along the tranquil riverbank through beautiful Dovedale and you’ll reach the iconic Dovedale Stepping Stones! This beautiful location is one of the most popular destinations for visitors to the Peak District and is one of the most visited natural sites in England! Venture a mile or so further to undertake the climb of Thorpe Cloud with breathtaking views over this stunning area.

With bikes and secure bike storage available at the cottage, cyclists can enjoy the quiet Peak District lanes, or the nearby Tissington Trail, a traffic-free route running for 13 miles from near Buxton to Ashbourne, with further links to the High Peak Trail.
For those wishing to browse the shops, Bankside Cottage sits conveniently between the historic spa town of Buxton (15 miles away) and the ancient market town of Ashbourne (7 miles away), both offering a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions. Or why not visit the large village of Hartington (6 miles away), famous for its cheese shop, and a lovely selection of independent shops, pubs and cafes?
