Stunning Kitchen and Dining Area

The stunning kitchen/dining area is the most wonderful space to enjoy family gatherings. This expansive space, with a vaulted ceiling and huge Georgian windows, blends modern convenience with timeless charm.

Those who enjoy cooking will love everything this amazing kitchen has to offer, with Miele appliances including two ovens, induction hobs, two dishwashers, microwave, floor to ceiling fridge freezer and granite worktops. The large pine table, seating 14, is the most idyllic place to enjoy your meal overlooking the ornamental gardens, or enjoy a moment relaxing by the wood-burning stove on the cosy mezzanine level with a glass of your favourite wine whilst watching the widescreen TV.

There is also a handy utility area adjoining the kitchen with a second sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, perfect for those who are looking for a longer stay.

If you enjoy preparing your own meals, the kitchen at Darley House is perfect! However, if you’re looking for a break from cooking, there are many fabulous restaurants nearby, or why not treat yourselves to a luxurious in-house feast with one of Darley House’s recommended caterers? They can also recommend a whole host of outdoor activity providers too, and even arrange a hot tub to be delivered, hot for your arrival. Darley House can simply recommend everything, so you can turn up, relax and enjoy!

Awesome Games Room and Elegant Banquet Room

The Games Room at Darley House is like no other, with more elegant grandeur, offering endless entertainment for all the family! Featuring a table tennis table, a small pool table, and a multi-games table with roulette, there’s hours of friendly fun and competition to be had here. This stunning room’s decorative ceilings and fireplace whisper of its grand history, allowing transformation into a private dining area for a truly special occasion. The large Georgian windows are a feature in themselves and the French doors leading onto the patio and gardens easily allow the celebrations to move from indoors to outdoors. The Drawing Room adjoins the Games Room, allowing space for relaxation whilst still being a part of the main gathering.

Darley House has two wonderful reception rooms, providing lovely spaces to relax.

Curl up by the crackling fire in the elegant Drawing Room with a coffee or a stronger tipple, or perhaps enjoy a delightful afternoon tea gazing through the large bay windows with captivating views of the gardens. There are sumptuous sofas and window seating, providing plenty of space to unwind.

The TV/Reading Room retains its original charm with wooden panelling and a Georgian fireplace with a wood-burning stove. Gather for classic board games or enjoy a movie night in front of the HD TV with FreeSat and Blue-ray player, or maybe some competitive gaming on the PS3 and Xbox.

Six Beautiful Bedrooms

Darley House has six delightful bedrooms, sleeping up to 14 guests.

Tissington:  A spacious master bedroom with a four-poster bed overlooking the garden. It has a stunning ensuite bathroom with a standalone bath, walk in shower, double basins, toilet and bidet.

Cressbrook:  A bright and airy twin room with views of the gardens. Guests have use of the separate shower rooms.

Dovedale:  A beautiful king-sized room with additional single bed, great for families, with a gorgeous ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and a standalone roll-top bath with views of the rolling hills and countryside.

Darley:  Another delightful king-sized ensuite room with a single sofa bed for extra flexibility.  

Monsal:  A flexible room that can be used as a super king size or as twin single beds, with views over the hills, and use of separate shower room.

Castleton:  A cosy and fun room for children to share with 2 bunk beds, sleeping four, with use of separate shower room.

For rooms without ensuites, there are two shower rooms. On the ground floor you’ll find a spectacular Moroccan Shower Room, a unique wet room with a basin brought all the way from Marrakech. On the first floor, there’s another walk-in shower with large power shower.


Magnificent Fairytale Gardens

Step outside into Darley House’s stunning gardens and grounds, meticulously planned by the renowned Sir Joseph Paxton in the 1840s. Explore flower borders bursting with colour and beautiful scent, specimen trees, including a giant redwood, and some of the country’s oldest ginkgo biloba trees. Enchanting pathways are perfect for leisurely strolls or treasure hunts whilst cosy corners are ideal for quiet moments, games of hide and seek and den building, creating memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Dine alfresco on the patio with a Big Green Egg barbecue and large dining table, after playing group games on the specious lawns. Or why not hire your own chef for a special occasion and maybe even an activity provider to arrange fun filled games or relaxing treatments?

Wonderful Location

Let’s be honest – you may never want to leave Darley House……….ever! Not even when your holiday is over! However, if you want to venture out, Darley House is close to many of Derbyshire’s most popular attractions and endless possibilities in the nearby Peak District National Park.

The delightful town of Matlock is less that two miles away, with a great selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Just a mile further is the inland ‘seaside’ town of Matlock Bath, with more bars and restaurants, amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and a boating lake. It’s also home to The Heights of Abraham, perfect for a fabulous day out for the whole family.

The wonderful market town of Bakewell, with a great range of independent shops and more eateries, is just 7 miles away, and home to many annual festivals through the year.

In just ten to fifteen minutes, you can be exploring the beautiful homes of Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Each with magnificent architectural buildings filled with history and beautiful grounds and gardens to meander.

There are many picturesque walks to be had such as nearby Nine Ladies Stone Circle at Stanton in Peak, which is blanketed with beautiful pink heather in the summer, and Robin Hood’s Stride.

Darley House is simply exquisite. Undoubtedly the most idyllic home for celebrations and family gatherings, and the perfect base in which to enjoy this beautiful area of Derbyshire and The Peak District National Park!
