About the Derwentwater Arms

Derwentwater Inn, Calver

The Derwentwater Arms is a historic pub in the heart of the pretty village of Calver, on the border between the White Peak and the Dark Peak, against the River Derwent.

The pub sits high on a hill overlooking the village with the most wonderful Peak District scenery, looking over to Curbar Edge and beyond. Opposite is a perfectly kept cricket pitch; Calver Cricket Club is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the country.

Calver itself is an ancient village, mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The oldest part of the village has a cluster of lovely stone cottages gathered around an ancient village cross. As well as the pub you’ll find a great selection of shops here, including a garden centre, an outdoors shop and an old-fashioned sweet shop.

Great Pub Food and Drink

The Derwentwater Arms is renowned for its superb food, produced using the finest ingredients freshly sourced from local suppliers wherever possible, changing to make the most of seasonal availability. There are pub classics as well as imaginative main courses and freshly prepared pizzas. You’ll find plenty of vegetarian choices on the menu too, along with daily specials. View the menu for more information.
