Alton Towers: Galactica
Galactica at Alton Towers is a groundbreaking flying coaster that takes you on an intergalactic journey through the cosmos. Located in Forbidden Valley, this Bolliger & Mabillard creation was Europe's first flying coaster when it opened in 2002 as Air. Unlike traditional rollercoasters, Galactica positions riders in a prone flying position beneath the track, making you feel like you're soaring through space at 47 mph. The ride features a near-vertical ascent before a majestic swooping drop through immersive tunnels and mist effects. In 2016, the ride was reborn as Galactica with a new space theme, optional virtual reality, and updated audio-visual effects, creating the sensation of travelling through different galaxies.
