The Peak District National Park covers 555 square miles of the most beautiful areas of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Yorkshire. t was the first National Park ever created in the UK, back in 1951, and it now receives more than 10 million visitors every year. They come for the stunning countryside, charming towns and villages, and the freedom to escape from the crowds on the 1,800 miles of footpaths, bridleways and cycle trails you’ll find here.
The Peak District is a very dog-friendly place to visit. The majority of the pubs, restaurants and shops in the villages and towns will welcome your canine companions with open arms, and so will many of the visitor attractions. You can stroll with your pooch through the landscaped gardens at Chatsworth House near Bakewell, explore the caves together at Blue John Cavern in Castleton, and even take him or her on a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham in Matlock!
We’re confident that even if you spent your whole life in the Peak District, walking every day, you still couldn’t exhaust every beautiful wild corner of the stunning countryside here! From the wild open moorlands of the north to the gently-rolling green pasturelands of the south, the Peak District is perfect walking country for you and your pooch.
