A Trip to Poole’s Cavern
Poole’s Cavern is a spectacular limestone cavern in the graceful spa town of Buxton, on the edge of the Peak District. This wonderful all-weather visitor attraction has been delighting tourists for hundreds of years, who travel from all over the world to marvel at the beautifully-illuminated chambers, rock formations and underground streams.
The whole family can enjoy a day out here, touring the underground world on paved walkways with knowledgeable guides to help you understand the views around you.
There’s also a Visitor Centre, with a café, shop and information centre explaining the history of the cavern.
The beauty here is not just all underground, however! Take a stroll through Buxton Country Park which borders the Cavern on one of the three marked woodland sculpture trails to the hilltop viewpoint of Solomon’s Temple. Here you’ll find spectacular 360 degree views with the whole of Buxton and the Peak District laid out in front of you.
