About The Old Nag’s Head

The Old Nag’s Head in Edale is more than a pub, it’s an institution!  For nearly 450 years it’s been a favourite of locals and visitors and a warm refuge for weary travellers.

This low-ceilinged, traditional country inn dates back to 1577.  It’s full of character and steeped in history, and it’s situated in arguably the most beautiful location in the Peak District, right at the official start of the famous long distance footpath, the Pennine Way.

The beautiful village of Edale is about as idyllic a spot as it’s possible to imagine.  Stone cottages and farms are clustered along narrow lanes, there’s a peaceful country churchyard, and the village is surrounded by the hills and wooded slopes of the Edale Valley and the wild moorland of Kinder Scout.

The Old Nag's Head

You’ll always find a warm, friendly atmosphere at The Old Nag’s Head.  It’s the perfect place to relax and refuel after a hard day’s walking in this wonderful countryside.

The pub is made up of a collection of linked rooms and snugs with open fires, which means that it’s cosy yet also spacious enough for even large groups.

And as you’d expect from a pub in this area, we welcome both muddy boots and muddy paws!
