The eight impressive boutique rooms at The Merchant’s Yard have their own separate entrance on the ground floor, and the private use of a cosy lounge area with sofas, electric stove fire and TV. The perfect place to relax with a drink before heading back to your room!
There are five Superior Rooms which are modern and stylish, and each have an exceptionally comfortable King-sized bed (which can be converted into two singles upon request), with luxurious 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets.
New for 2024 are two Deluxe Rooms and a Superior Deluxe room which have been designed with the same feel as the Superior Rooms, yet offer a little extra luxury and space should guests desire it. These large, spacious rooms are bright and airy, with high ceilings and air conditioning. The Superior Deluxe Room has the benefit of a snug area with an additional double sofa bed, making it ideal for families.
Each room has been furnished to the highest standard with 55” Smart TV with built in Freesat, WiFi, mini fridge for guest use, tea- and coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and Velux roof windows.
Children up to the age of 12 can be accommodated on a fold-up bed within each room if required.
All rooms have their own private en-suite bathroom, seven with a large, freestanding bath and a separate shower cubicle. One of the superior rooms has an accessible bathroom, without a bath, this has a stylish wet room with a large walk-in shower and adapted furnishings. Each are supplied with Cole and Lewis toiletries and soft towels for guest comfort.
In addition to the use of the guest lounge, guests also have access to an outdoor terrace, where they can enjoy a drink or two if the weather permits. Each guest room is allocated a reserved car parking space with use of an EV charging point if required.
All room stays include a delicious breakfast in the restaurant, cooked to order and served at your table.
At The Merchant’s Yard restaurant, you can enjoy exceptional, high-quality food from a variety of delicious menus in a relaxed, contemporary setting, with top-class service. All meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients, offering a varied, seasonal menu.
The spacious restaurant is over three floors, and has a fabulous rustic, modern feel with capacity to accommodate groups of all sizes.
Choose from the scrumptious contemporary Menu, where you can enjoy seasonal a la carte dishes or classic favourites such as fish and chips. The Merchant’s Yard also offers a fantastic selection of delicious Italian stone baked pizzas.
There is also a great Sunday lunch menu, where your chosen meat is served carved to share at your table, alongside roast potatoes, homemade Yorkshire puddings, and a selection of seasonal vegetables and chef’s gravy. Homemade vegetarian and vegan alternatives are also available.
As all meals are freshly prepared, the chefs will be happy to tailor the recipes where possible to cater for those with a gluten-free or dairy-free diet, and there’s also a great selection for vegetarians and vegans.
Delicious afternoon teas are also available, with or without fizz to suit your taste.

The Merchant’s Yard has gained an excellent reputation, but it is also in a beautiful location. Situated in the quaint village of Tideswell, in the centre of the Peak District National Park, it’s the perfect base to explore all that the Peak District has to offer. Just a short stroll away are some of the best nature reserves in the Peak District – Monk’s Dale, Hay Dale and Cressbrook Dale, renowned for its blanket of orchids in the summer months and abundance of wildlife. Situated close to the long distance footpath of The Limestone Way, this is perfect walking country.
Only a short drive away are the popular visitor attractions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, as well as the historic market town of Bakewell and the elegant spa town of Buxton.
In Tideswell itself, look out for its famous Food Festival each May where the streets are lined with delicious food and drink stalls and live street entertainment.
