However, venture inside and discover a mouthwatering menu with a wonderful selection of homemade cakes, delicious light bites, and hearty home-cooked hot meals – where everything from the chutneys to the cakes and pies are all freshly made by their very own award-winning baker! But that’s not all… wander outside and you’ll find the most spacious, peaceful, dog-friendly garden, with covered seating. With the backdrop of rustling trees and the sound of birdsong, it’s the ideal place to relax for breakfast or lunch, whatever the weather!

Cintra’s has been owned and lovingly run by the same family for many years, who continue to welcome return customers and new visitors week after week. The décor is charming, the menu is tempting, but it is the friendly owners and staff that make Cintra’s so inviting! Nothing is too much trouble, and they welcome solo travellers, couples, families, groups, and of course your four-legged friends, in the pretty garden.

As you enter, Cintra’s tearooms is cosy and elegantly furnished. There’s room to seat 12 with further seating upstairs for 22, making this ideal for private celebrations. The seating outside can comfortably accommodate up to 80 people, where private bookings are welcome.



Cintra’s opening times vary according to the seasons, so please check out their opening times here. There is on street parking just outside, and the main Hathersage Car Park is just a two minute walk across the street, so Cintra’s is very each to reach.

The menu at Cintra’s has something for everyone, with many homecooked delights, using local producers and suppliers.  There are traditional favourites, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as gluten-free dishes – and that all important kids menu!

Cintra’s has a selection of teas and infusions, fantastic barista-made continental coffees, as well as soft drinks and wonderful milkshakes and hot chocolate with cream, so the little ones will be happy too. For those fancying something a little stronger, Cintra’s is licensed with a choice of beers, wines and Prosecco.

All of the cakes at Cintra’s are freshly homemade by their very own baker and are simply delicious, many of which are gluten free! The choices change daily with a varied menu including traditional Bakewell slice, mouthwatering Raspberry Scones, and Butterscotch & Biscoff cake!  The cakes can be ordered by the slice, or you can preorder a whole cake for your own special occasion.

Breakfast
Start off your day with a hearty breakfast from Cintra’s before heading out in the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Hope Valley. Cintra’s has five varieties of breakfasts on its menu: all day breakfast, king sized breakfast, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, together with breakfast baps and scrumptious pancakes, again making sure to keep the little ones happy!

Light Bites
For those browsing the fabulous shops in Hathersage or stopping off during a leisurely walk, there’s a great choice of tasty light bites to choose from. The homemade fruit loaf (which is also suitable for a vegan diet) is a firm favourite, as are the warming homemade soups. There’s also a choice of toasties, baguettes and paninis, some of which are served with Cintra’s very own chilli jams and chutneys.

Hearty Meals
Cintra’s homemade steak pies are NOT a very well-kept secret! Everybody loves them and they’re always on the menu at Cintra’s. Served with chips, peas and gravy, it’s hearty grub to refuel after a day out exploring this beautiful area. You’ll also find other family favourites such as scampi and chicken strips, as well as jacket potatoes and ciabatta meals with fries.

Children’s Menu
The owners and staff love to welcome children. No doubt they’ll be tempted by all the meals on offer, but for those who prefer a smaller plate, there’s a traditional children’s menu with fish fingers, sausage, breaded chicken and chips. Don’t forget, there’s also the wonderful pancakes too, not to mention oodles of scrummy cake, which are a fantastic bribe to get them to walk just a little bit further!

As you’d imagine, the afternoon teas at Cintra’s are not only traditional and beautifully presented, but also delicious, and make the perfect indulgent treat for two or more people.  Each of the afternoon teas include fresh tea or barista-made coffee, a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, a temping selection of homemade cakes, and of course the essential fluffy scone with jam and cream. Why not treat yourselves further and add on a glass of chilled Prosecco?

Upstairs at Cintra’s there’s a lovely room with space for 22 people, which is a great place to host private parties and celebrations, of course with the most scrumptious food for guests. 

The beautiful garden with undercover seating can accommodate 80 guests, so is a great place for those looking for larger events. However, regardless of numbers, no matter how big or small the party, Cintra’s is a firm favourite for walking groups who call in for breakfast before they head out on their day’s adventures or for a warming meal afterwards, as well as those wanting to enjoy a group afternoon tea. Whatever the occasion, the friendly staff at Cintra’s will tailor the occasion to meet your needs, so you’re sure to have a wonderful visit.

Hathersage is a vibrant, pretty village in the Hope Valley with a great selection of independent shops, outdoor clothing stores, bars and even a heated outdoor swimming pool! 

Surrounded by stunning countryside, carpeted with beautiful heather and overlooked by fabulous gritstone edges, Hathersage is a popular destination for those wishing to browse the shops, those enjoying a leisurely stroll, and those taking on more challenging hiking routes and outdoor activities. Some of the best Peak District walking routes start from the edge of the village, such as a hike up to Stanage Edge, which is also popular with climbers, with magnificent rewarding views. The National Trusts’ Longshaw Estate can be reached via an 8 mile circular route from the village, as can picturesque Grindleford via a 6 mile route, to name but a few.
