Village Green Café, in the centre of the historic village of Eyam, surrounded by beautiful countryside and miles of fabulous walking routes, has been run by the same family for over a decade and is a firm favourite with both locals and visitors to the Peak District. The owner’s love of baking clearly shows at Village Green Café, with a fabulous menu full of sweet and savoury dishes served from 10.00am to 2.15pm. Choose from breakfast, brunch and lunch options and a selection of refreshing and indulgent drinks. All diets are catered for, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, together with alternative milk choices. All available to eat in or takeaway to enjoy whilst exploring this fabulous area of the Peak District National Park.
Continuing to support local micro businesses, you’ll find lots of local suppliers on the drinks menu at Village Green Cafe. Choose from teas from Northern Tea Merchants and Birchall Teas, speciality blend coffees from Darkwoods Deerhill, an indulgent selection of flavoured hot chocolates, and fabulous milkshakes using Bluebell Dairy Ice-cream.
Most items on the menu are home-baked at Village Green Café, whilst some tried and tested delicacies are sourced locally from Welbeck Artisan Bakery, such as their scrumptious pasties, teacakes and sourdough breads. Also choose from a selection of breakfast cobs, toast options, and Village Green Café’s special gluten-free porridge with banana, seeds, cinnamon sugar and berries!
The lunchtime options at Village Green Café are divine! Try the gorgeous homemade savoury tarts or freshly made soups served with Welbeck Artisan Bakery breads. Why not double up and try the soup served with a delicious toastie?! The children’s menu is just as special with toasties, soups, sausage rolls and fresh fruit, not forgetting those scrumptious milkshakes!
Then we come on to the sweet treats…….where do we start?! The tray bakes are award-winning, and the delicious cakes are home-made, many of which are created from Village Green Café’s very own secret recipes! The choices change daily but there’s always something for everyone, with favourites such as Rocky Road, Cherry and Almond Scones, and Elderflower & Lemon Drizzle Cake, as well as Bluebell Dairy Ice cream.
As you can imagine, the afternoon teas at Village Green Café are beautiful and make the perfect gift or a well-deserved treat! All afternoon teas are made specifically to order, to suit all tastes and diets, from indulgent cream teas, to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. Each afternoon tea includes a selection of freshly-made sandwiches, savoury bites, sweet treats, and of course a pot of fresh tea or cup of speciality coffee.

There are many popular cycling routes that start or pass by Village Green Café in Eyam, making it the perfect place for cyclists to meet beforehand or to stop off after a ride. Head up to the rugged edges of Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt, or visit the Monsal Trail (a 8.5 mile traffic free route) via Bakewell.
For those taking on the Peak District’s toughest climb at Winnats Pass, pop in, show your Strava and treat yourself to a free slice of cake with any bought coffee!

Village Green Café is in a fabulous location! The village of Eyam is steeped in history, renowned for being a 17th Century ‘plague village’, and it’s a fascinating place to discover, attracting visitors all year round for a lovely day out. There are narrow village lanes to explore, lined with pretty stone cottages, as well as Eyam Hall, with a cobbled courtyard and a fabulous homeware shop. For those wanting to venture out into the countryside, you’ll be spoilt for choice, with so many walks to choose from in this beautiful part of the White Peak, such as the Figure of 8 Walk, via Stoney Middleton. Just a short distance away you can take in the breathtaking edges of Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow with stunning views, or visit the pretty village of Foolow with village pond.
