The Yondermann Café in Wardlow Mires is one of Derbyshire’s little gems! This fabulous licensed café has been trading for over 60 years, attracting locals, hikers and bikers year upon year, serving great food in a great atmosphere! Surrounded by stunning Peak District Countryside, The Yondermann Café is described as ‘miles from nowhere’, yet is ideally located on the Peak District road to everywhere! Just off the A623, which spans from Baslow right across to Sparrowpit, the A623 is the main route through to many pretty villages such as Eyam, Foolow, and Tideswell, making The Yonderman Café a fabulous place to stop off for a cracking breakfast, a good, honest mug of tea, traditional lunches, and a warm, friendly welcome! It’s the perfect meeting point for walkers and bikers too!
This brilliant little café has been welcoming visitors for years, and due to its fabulous location it’s always been a favourite for bikers who appreciate good honest grub! You’re sure to receive the warmest of welcomes from the friendly staff and have the option to sit inside or outside on their undercover terrace, or enjoy the garden with patio heaters, with views of the surrounding countryside. There’s also plenty of car parking, so The Yondermann Cafe can easily accommodate the passing trade.
All the meals at The Yondermann Café are home-cooked to order, using fresh ingredients from local suppliers to produce top quality food, that has visitors returning time and time again. Fresh oatcakes are supplied by Bakewell Bakery, and many of the licensed drinks are supplied by local companies such as Peak Ales and Hattersley Wines, both from nearby Bakewell. All the delicious cakes are homemade too!
Breakfast
Breakfast is served all day at The Yondermann Café, from 7.30am, making it ideal for those wanted to fuel up with one of their hearty breakfasts before continuing their journey to one of the surrounding Peak District villages or walking routes.
The menu has a great selection to suit all appetites, ranging from toasted teacakes, toast with various toppings, Derbyshire oatcakes, breakfast cobs, and a selection of cooked breakfasts including vegetarian, vegan and the fabulous Big Yondermann! Why not indulge in a moreish Belgian waffle with streaky bacon, drizzled with maple syrup, all washed down with a great coffee, made using fresh coffee beans from local supplier Buxton Roastery?!
Lunches and Main Meals
The Yondermann Cafe’s lunch menu can be enjoyed from 11am onwards, including freshly made sandwiches with traditional fillings such as hand carved ham, and comfort foods like jacket potatoes with toppings such as cheese and beans. There’s also a great choice of traditional main meals, including ham, egg and chips, a selection of burgers and daily specials such as filled Yorkshire Puddings! Or why not try the latest customer favourite, Yonder-fried chicken?! (Free range chicken from local Mac Burnham Butchers coated in Yondermann’s very own house spice mix & buttermilk), served with a selection of sauces and sides. For those looking for savouries to take away, in addition to filled sandwiches, you’ll find homemade sausage rolls and a variety of quiches.
Everyone’s welcome at The Yondermann Cafe and there’s also a fab Kids Menu and a great selection of licensed drinks such as beers, local ales, selected wines and soft drinks. Dogs are more than welcome in the outdoor seating area.
Homemade Puddings and Cakes
Why not treat yourself to one of The Yondermann Cafe’s lovely puddings, or one of their famously good homemade cakes, which can, of course, be taken away on your journey if needed.

Spring opening times Monday – Friday 7.30am to 3.00pm and 7.30am to 4.00pm weekends.

The Yondermann Café, often referred to by the locals and regulars as ‘The Mires’, is located in the hamlet of Wardlow Mires, just off the A623, one of the main routes through the centre of the Peak District National Park, spanning from Baslow through to Sparrowpit.
