What can we during our stay in Stoney Middleton?
Stoney Middleton has so much history! Thought to be a Roman Settlement is full of old quarries and mines. Known for its vertical rugged landscape, it now provides some of the best rock climbing in the country. Film buffs might also recognise the nearby quarry as the spectacular site where a train was famously plunged off a cliff for the Mission Impossible movie!
Today, the village has a couple of fabulous eateries and a village pub. For those who don’t wish to cook, The Cupola Cafe-Bar is located immediately next door. This vibrant venue serves everything from hearty Peak District breakfasts to authentic wood-fired pizzas, meaning your meal is never more than a few steps away.
Often described as a “hidden gem”, Coombs Dale is a site of Special Scientific Interest located just moments from Rock Mill. It is a tranquil valley home to rare butterflies and wildflowers, which can be enjoyed in this four mile walk.
