About Underleigh House

Underleigh House 1

Underleigh House is a traditional Derbyshire Longhouse built in 1873. It’s situated on a private lane between the beautiful Peak District villages of Hope and Edale, in the heart of the breathtaking Hope Valley, one of the most picturesque valleys in the National Park.

The surrounding countryside is perfect for all kinds of outdoor pursuits and is popular with walkers, cyclists and climbers. After a day exploring in the open air guests will be able to truly relax and unwind completely here, whether in their own private lounges, in the main lounge in front of the open fire, or outside in the glorious, well-kept garden, watching the many garden birds that also choose to visit Underleigh House.

It comes as no surprise that this wonderful place has received many awards, including the Visit England Gold Award for accommodation of exceptional quality and the Visit England Breakfast Award. For many years it has also been included in the independent Good Hotel Guide, which features only accommodation recommended by visitors.

Vivienne Taylor, who owns and manages Underleigh House, was a finalist in the AA’s Friendliest Landlady of the Year awards for the Bed & Breakfast category. The helpful and welcoming staff here cannot do enough to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Accommodation at Underleigh House

Underleigh House has four spacious double/king sized bedrooms. Each has its own en-suite bathroom and three have separate, private lounges. One of the rooms can be converted to accommodate two single beds, and two of the rooms can also accommodate a third person on a sofa bed in the lounge if required.

One of the rooms is dog-friendly for those wanting a luxury break away with their furry friend.

Each of the rooms includes a mini fridge with tea/coffee making facilities, as well as TVs in both the bedrooms and lounge areas, and of course free WiFi throughout. Every effort has been made to provide the most luxurious of stays, including sumptuous bedding, and soft, fluffy bath sheets and robes.

Derwent Suite

Underleigh House’s Derwent Suite is a super king-sized room, which can be spit into two singles if required. Located on the first floor, the bedroom overlooks the pretty rear garden and offers wonderful views over Win Hill and Shatton Edge from its delightful private lounge. The sofa in the lounge can also be converted into another single bed to accommodate a third person if required.

The suite has a crisp, modern shower room with a large walk-in shower.

The suite has a spacious bathroom, with over bath shower.

Although Aston doesn’t have a separate lounge area, it certainly makes up for it with its prettiness and the breath-taking views. With windows on each side of the room, there are direct views over Win Hill and Lose Hill.

Aston’s modern bathroom has a bath with shower above.

Townhead Garden Suite

Underleigh House’s ground floor garden suite really is something special. This king-sized room not only has its own private lounge, but direct access to the lovely cottage-style patio garden and gravelled parking area.  The sofa in the lounge can also be converted to a single bed to accommodate a third person.
