Guests are never far from a traditional, welcoming village pub or a local shop selling famous Derbyshire delicacies. The settings are characterised by tranquil surroundings and breath-taking views, providing a genuine sense of escape while still being conveniently located for exploring local attractions.

The lovely Peak District village of Tideswell has all the amenities you could wish for, some only a minute’s walk away from Fairview House and Fairview Barn. You’ll be spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink, with four pubs and a fine dining restaurant within the village, an Italian Restaurant, plus a butcher, a baker, a general store, fish and a chip shop and tea rooms! The kids will love it here too – with a playground and lots of fun things to enjoy nearby.
Tideswell’s annual food festival takes place in the village every May. It’s well worth a visit, with a huge choice of delicious, locally produced food and drink, plus other activities. If you’re visiting in June look out for Tideswell Wakes Week, held the last week in June, a much older village tradition, dating back almost 750 years. It coincides with the village’s annual Well Dressing ceremony and the church’s Festival for St John the Baptist. Then of course in the winter months, you’re only a 20 minute drive from the fabulous Christmas market at Chatsworth, making Fairview House and Barn, perfect for all times of year.
Dove Cottage, Manifold Cottage and Knowl Cottage are located in the beautiful Peak District village of Hartington, with its beautiful stone buildings, gathered around the old market square and duck pond. There’s a great selection of local food and gift shops, as well as two wonderful country pubs, a farm shop, the famous Hartington cheese shop and plenty of cafés.
The area around Hartington is a particularly picturesque part of the Peak District National Park, and a walker’s paradise. The village is located close to the Tissington Trail, a 13 mile long walking/cycling trail from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne that runs through the most spectacular White Peak countryside.
For those staying in Beech Cottage or Knowsley Cottage in Bakewell, you’ll find an abundance of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.
Surrounded by breathtaking countryside, there is also a huge selection of walks to enjoy. Perhaps have a leisurely stroll to the chocolate box village of Ashford in the Water, or head for the Monsal Trail with your bikes.
Leamington House, is located close to The Tissington Trail, a traffic-free trail that runs for 13 miles from Parsley Hay in the north to Ashbourne in the south. The picturesque town of Ashbourne is known as the Gateway to the Peak District, and it’s certainly the perfect base from which to explore the spectacular White Peak countryside. The town itself has lots to offer the visitor too, with beautiful architecture, plenty of independent shops and lovely cafés.
