Merman Farm is a beautiful, detached holiday home in the Peak District ‘Cathedral Town’ of Tideswell. It is perfectly situated only a few minutes away from the centre of this bustling Derbyshire village, with its pubs, shops, restaurants and stunning historic church.

Formerly a farmhouse, Merman Farm is a traditional, stone built home that has been fully restored to offer high quality accommodation for up to 11 people in five bedrooms.

Your dogs are welcome here too – up to two pets are welcome during any stay at Merman Farm!


Merman Farm Accommodation

The owners of Merman Farm have maintained all the character and charm of the original farm house and combined this with modern design and home comforts, ensuring the most luxurious accommodation for your stay in this beautiful part of the Peak District.

Merman Farm features a spacious lounge with comfy settees and a large wood-burning stove – perfect for get-togethers with friends and family. All wood is provided and included during your stay, so whatever the time of year you can be sure to be warm and cosy.

The spacious French oak kitchen features a gas-fired AGA set into its own beautiful brick fireplace. Opposite is a sitting area – ideal for socialising whilst cooking up a feast in the fully-equipped kitchen. The kitchen also has a microwave, fridge, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

The kitchen and living room both have TVs and access to Sky Sports and movies. A DVD/CD player is also available, as is wifi throughout the house.

Next door is a separate dining room with a table large enough to seat 10 people comfortably, perfect for sociable get-togethers.

There is also a WC and hand basin downstairs.

Upstairs at Merman Farm you’ll find five bedrooms, plus an additional attic room.

Two of the bedrooms feature Super King Size beds that can be converted to twins on request. Both rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, basin and WC.

One bedroom is a twin room featuring 2’6″ wide single beds. This room also has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, basin and WC.

Two further bedrooms – one a standard double and one a twin – have shared use of the large, family bathroom. This has a large bath, separate shower, basin and WC – perfect for trips away with young children.

In the bright and airy attic there is an additional twin bed.

Two cot beds and two high chairs are available on request.


Outside at Merman Farm

Outside at Merman Farm you’ll find a patio area with gas barbecue and outdoor seating, ideal for enjoying al fresco dining in the fresh Peak District air.

Close by is a walled lawn area and access to the adjoining 1 acre paddock – perfect for exercising your four-legged friends.

There’s also off-road parking for up to five cars adjacent to the property, along with secure, lockable storage for bikes, etc.

Merman Farm is located just a few minutes’ walk away from the centre of the village of Tideswell. Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park, right on the border of the White Peak and Dark Peak areas. It is a lively, picturesque village with a host of amenities, and is famous for its fine church known as ‘The Cathedral of the Peak’.

Tideswell enjoys easy access to the towns of Buxton and Bakewell – ideal for shopping, pubs, cafes or a visit to the famous Buxton Opera House.

The Peak District is renowned as a world class destination for outdoor pursuits and Tideswell is perfectly placed for the outdoor enthusiast. It’s an easy walk from the village to explore Millers Dale or head to the more rugged peaks of the Hope Valley to the north and climb Mam Tor, Lose Hill, Win Hill, or go further into the Vale of Edale and onto Kinder Scout.

Climbers will enjoy the easy access to miles of gritstone edges on Stanage, Burbage, Curbar and Froggatt, whilst the limestone of Cheedale, Stoney Middleton and High Tor is all easily accessible.

Beautiful Monsal Dale is just a few miles away and keen cyclists can link this to the High Peak and Tissington Trails for a day of (almost) traffic-free riding through stunning countryside.

If you’re looking for a bit of history, then the country houses of Haddon Hall and Lyme Park are close by, and the famous Chatsworth Estate is just 20 mins away by car.
