The lounge at The Carriage House is modern, bright and sociable, yet incredibly cosy with its stylish country décor and a welcoming log-burning stove set within a traditional stone fireplace. There are plenty of plush, comfortable sofas for you to unwind after a day enjoying this beautiful area and relax enjoying your favourite shows on the smart TV.

With quality soft furnishings and lots of thoughtful finishing touches, the lounge at The Carriage House gives a real home from home feel, promising a relaxing stay.

There are lots of characterful windows allowing light to flood in, providing views over the surrounding fields. From the lounge at The Carriage House there’s also direct access to the private patio, where you can swing open the doors in the warmer months, allowing the breeze to flow through, and enjoy more of those breathtaking countryside views.

Modern Bespoke Dining Kitchen

The Carriage House has a fabulous bespoke dining kitchen with a unique butcher’s block island, equipped with modern, top-notch Miele appliances and all the cookware you could possibly need to serve up a delicious meal. Appliances include:

  • Electric oven and hob
  • Integral coffee machine
  • Fridge/freezer
  • Microwave
  • Dishwasher

A washing machine and tumble dryer can also be found in the downstairs shower room, ideal for freshening up your clothes for those wishing to stay a while longer.

This gorgeous bright space is another wonderful socialising space, perfect for enjoying a meal with family and friends at the large dining table for six.


Three Elegant Bedrooms

The Carriage House offers ultimate relaxation in three elegantly appointed king-sized bedrooms, each boasting a sumptuously comfortable Vispring mattress adorned with fine linens. The bedrooms have been carefully designed and styled using a mix of calming tones and country chic décor, resulting in the most charming spaces in which to relax.

Each of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms with sink, WC and either an inviting bath or spacious power shower, and luxurious soft fluffy towels.

Relaxing Lawn and Patio

Step outside at The Carriage House to a gorgeous private patio area and enclosed lawn, leading directly to lush open green fields, and stunning countryside views beyond. The patio is the most idyllic space to enjoy a morning coffee listing to the birdsong and the sound of newborn lambs in the spring, while the enclosed lawn is the perfect space to let children play, making fun-filled family memories. With garden furniture and a Weber barbecue, you can relax at the end of the day with a glass of fizz and a little alfresco dining, planning your next day in this sunning part of the Peak District National Park.

There is private parking for up to four cars.

For those wishing to cycle on the nearby Monsal Trail, there is also secure bike storage.


Picturesque Location

Conveniently situated just a 2-minute walk from the heart of the picturesque village of Ashford in the Water, The Carriage House offers easy access to local amenities, including traditional village pubs serving delicious homecooked food, a wonderful restaurant, a selection of quaint tearooms and a handy village shop. Ashford in the Water is a chocolate box village with cobbled streets lined with pretty limestone cottages, with the clear waters of River Wye running through it. Visitors will often gather at the medieval Sheep Wash Bridge to watch a variety of wildlife such as dippers and rainbow trout with the company of ducks who leisurely waddle around the village.

The Carriage House is also conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from many other Peak District gems, making this the perfect base from which to explore this fabulous area!

Just two miles away is the delightful town of Bakewell, where you can enjoy its famous market on Mondays, or browse the many independent shops, bars and cafes, or enjoy delicious fish and chips whilst people-watching by the side of the river.

If you enjoy meandering around stately homes then both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just a short drive away. Chatsworth House is regarded as the jewel of the Peak District National Park, whilst Haddon Hall is described as one of the most beautiful mediaeval manor houses in England.  

For those who prefer to cycle, the Monsal Trail is just one mile from The Carriage House! This 8.5 mile traffic free route runs from Bakewell to Chee Dale near Buxton, passing through beautiful scenery and lots of pretty villages with plenty of tea rooms and pubs for well-earned refreshments!

Nearby Monsal Head

In just 20 minutes you can be in the fabulous spa town of Buxton with its magnificent architecture and historical buildings. Here you can treat yourselves to spa treatments, enjoy a family show in the Buxton Opera House, or spend the day exploring the parks at Pavilion Gardens. A fabulous day out for all the family!

With miles and miles of open countryside and walking trails from the door, there is so much to enjoy at The Carriage House without even moving the car. Enjoy a six mile loop, stopping for a a picnic on the banks of the River Wye or a spot of lunch in Bakewell. Another six mile route will take you via Monsal Dale to the iconic Monsal Head with stunning views over the valley.
