You’ll be wowed by Castle Cliffe’s Victorian features as soon as you arrive at the impressive hallway, which leads through to a double lounge with a log burner and ample seating for everyone. The two separate areas are ideal, allowing guests to spread out a little.
A separate TV snug room with an open fire is great for those who wish to relax in front of the TV or perhaps enjoy some quieter time with a book.
The kitchen at Castle Cliffe is so impressive! This large kitchen is fitted with both a gas fired Aga and a conventional oven and has every kitchen utensil imaginable, perfect for those wishing to prepare a family banquet. Or why not arrange outdoor caterers to come in to prepare food for your special occasion? There is also a small dining area here, ideal for enjoying a peaceful morning cuppa.
Meals can be enjoyed in the impressive dining hall, seating all 22 in your party, with a french door giving access to the attractive walled garden. Beautiful in the summer but imagine taking your Christmas feast there and watching it snow!
There is also a separate cloakroom, laundry room, and downstairs toilet.
There are nine beautifully styled bedrooms at Castle Cliffe, spread over two floors with flexible bed configurations to suit the needs of your group. Seven of the rooms are en-suite with the remaining two sharing a luxury bathroom. As you can imagine, the views from the bedrooms are incredible. Some of the rooms even have dual aspect windows, providing spectacular sights across Longstone Edge, Monsal Dale, right over towards Bakewell and beyond.
Towels and bed linen are provided. A cot is also available.

Outside at Castle Cliffe you’ll find a fabulous walled garden with patio area with tables, chairs and a barbecue, ideal for al fresco dining and a beer after a day exploring this wonderful area.
However, there’s more! Beyond the garden there’s an extensive paddock, which provides the most amazing play area for children, and of course adults who may wish plan some outdoor games during their stay.

You really don’t get much better than the location of Castle Cliffe. You don’t need to walk anywhere, well only a few steps, to enjoy one of the most iconic Peak District vistas – stunning Monsal Dale spanned by the Headstone Viaduct. Watching the sun rise or set from this elevated position is truly spectacular! Here you will also find a pub and a fabulous café with an awesome ice cream emporium, which the kids (young and old) will love. (That perfect bribe for completing the day’s walk or cycle!)
Guests can enjoy walks straight from the door of Castle Cliffe. Enjoy a stroll down the beautiful Monsal Dale, or follow one of the many other footpaths to places such as the chocolate box village of Ashford-in-the-Water or the beautiful Cressbrook Dale.
Situated right next to the the Monsal Trail, Castle Cliffe is ideal for cyclists too. This 8 mile route traffic-free route runs from Chee Dale to Bakewell. The market town of Bakewell is just 4 miles from Castle Cliffe, providing for a wonderful day out, whether you choose to walk, cycle or drive. There are also great links to the Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail, providing traffic-free cycling through the Peak District countryside. Guests are free to bring their own bikes, or bikes can be hired locally too from nearby Hassop.
The picture-perfect village, Ashford-in-the Water, is less than 2 miles from Castle Cliffe, with a couple of fabulous pubs and delightful cafes. The historic village of Eyam is just 6 miles away, and well worth a visit, again with a couple of great village pubs and cafes. No trip to the Peak District would be complete without a visit to one of its stately homes; Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both less than 7 miles away.
