Peak District...
Peak District Holiday Cottage at Uppermoor Farm is the most exquisite farmhouse and annex, finished to an excellent standard to provide luxurious, 5-star, country style accommodation sleeping 20 – 24 guests. This gorgeous venue is the perfect place to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary or any other occasion that deserves the pure indulgence that Peak District Holiday Cottage provides!
You’ll be wowed as soon as you arrive at Peak District Holiday Cottage, as you’re guided by the sweeping driveway through beautiful countryside, leading to a stunning stone courtyard, set in 70 acres of Peak District countryside! The farmhouse itself is magnificent, and the grounds are sympathetically landscaped to complement the history of this beautiful building and provide the most wonderful space to socialise and admire the breathtaking, far-reaching views.
Peak District Holiday Cottage oozes luxury from the moment you step inside. So much thought has been given to providing the most wonderful space for families and friends to gather, whilst retaining country character and charm. There are oak floors, timber beams, stone walls and many windows, allowing you to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
The socialising space is incredible, and all of an open plan design. As you enter through the farmhouse front door, the area opens up into a stunning dining area with two large antique tables enabling you to share a delicious meal together with seating for up to 24 guests.
Moving around, you find the fabulous kitchen – which has an Aga fired cooker to provide character and ambience to this beautiful space. You will also find a double oven and a seven-ring hob, together with all other appliances, cookware and all the glassware and crockery you could need to host your celebratory dinner party. With two toasters and two kettles there is plenty of space for breakfast indoors or through the French doors which lead out on to one of the many terraces with more of those breathtaking views.
The dining area is slightly elevated, overlooking the inviting large sitting room and adjoining orangery, both of which enjoy the heat of a double-sided wood-burning stove. The sitting room has lots of comfortable leather sofas and a television. The orangery is a glorious space in which to soak up the summer sunshine. This bright airy space has French doors leading out to the garden, or you can relax in front of the roaring wood-burning stove in the cooler months, housed within a gorgeous stone fireplace.
In addition, the Farmhouse has a handy utility room with dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge freezer and sink, which is a great place to store your shoes, coats, muddy boots and of course – the beers!
Everything flows so effortlessly, creating a wonderful place to socialise, yet also a cosy retreat to relax and enjoy the uniqueness of Peak District Holiday Cottage.
Adjoining the Farmhouse is it’s Annex, another great space that sleeps 6 of the guests, with its own private, cosy sitting room and dining kitchen – perfect for those who perhaps want to escape the party for a little while and enjoy a bit of quiet time.
The Farmhouse and it’s adjoining Annex can comfortably accommodate twenty guests in nine beautiful bedrooms with eight bathrooms, where the attention to detail is second to none, with more characterful features, antique furniture, and so many thoughtful touches. (For larger groups of 20-24 guests or those requiring extra bedrooms, you can add the smaller Coach House, which sleeps an additional 4 people in two bedrooms both ensuite.)
The first four rooms at Peak District Holiday Cottage can be found on the first floor of the farmhouse:
Cleverly tucked away on the ground floor, beyond the orangery, there are two more rooms:
The adjoining annex has an additional three bedrooms and two bathrooms:
The additional Coach House is reserved exclusively for those hiring The Peak District Holiday Cottage (or its sister property, The Lighthouse Barn, sleeping 16-20). The Coach House provides extra space for up to four more guests in two bedrooms both ensuite. Bedroom one is a large double room, and Bedroom two is a twin room, enabling The Farmhouse, Annex and Coach House to accommodate up to 24 guests in 11 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
This beautiful small barn has all the same luxury and comfort as Peak District Holiday Cottage and offers open plan living all on the ground floor. With its kitchen area and cosy lounge with a wood-burning stove, it has all you could need for a home-from-home stay, and the perfect place to chill with a tipple before bed.
Leading directly outside it nestles in the same main courtyard with a tranquil water feature and fragrant roses, it’s a very useful addition to Peak District Holiday Cottage, enabling a larger group of guests to join the main group, with the advantage of retiring earlier if they wish to.
Peak District Holiday Cottage’s landscaped gardens and courtyard setting is something else! The elevated position provides far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside and the most peaceful setting. Whether you are relaxing outside with a morning coffee watching the world come alive, enjoying a spot of lunch listening to the neighbouring lambs, or a drink under the moonlight, it’s the most amazing place to be.
There are large, spacious lawns perfect for party games in the sunshine, and numerous patio areas, all complemented with beautiful flower beds and well-kept shrubberies, providing colour throughout the year. The main outdoor social space has two large seating areas, one of which is slightly elevated with easy access to the kitchen and has two barbecues, the other leading straight from the orangery, again flowing together to enable everyone to socialise in style. Once you’ve watched the sun set, ambient lighting enables the party to continue outside, making the most of the peaceful, rural retreat.
Peak District Holiday Cottage is surrounded by open countryside, just one and a half miles away is the pretty little village of Parwich, a Domesday village which has a beautiful duck pond in its centre and many pretty stone cottages surrounding it. There is a footpath starting right from The Lighthouse Barn’s doorstep into Parwich or alternatively a pretty country walk down a winding leafy lane into the village itself.
There are two excellent cycling trails close to Peak District Holiday Cottage, where you can enjoy miles of traffic-free walking or cycling. The Tissington Trail leads to Parsley Hay in the north, near Hartington, or towards Ashbourne in the south, and the High Peak Trail will take you to High Peak Junction close to Cromford. Likewise, there is a network of footpaths leading over the beautiful Peak District countryside, stopping off at various pretty villages with country pubs and tea rooms.
For those who fancy a fun-filled day, nearby Matlock Bath with arcades, bars and cable cars, is just a 30 minute drive away, and the popular market town of Bakewell is just 20 minutes away, where you’ll find a great selection of independent shops and eateries.
