Ash Tree Cottage at Nettletor Farm is in Hartington, a busy and popular ‘honeypot’ village famed for its historic buildings and cheese production. The village church has sections that date from the 12th century with the rest being added through the 13th and 14th centuries and being sensitively restored in the 19th century. Hartington has been a centre for making Stilton Cheese since the 1900s.
Located deep in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park, Hartington is located roughly halfway between the lovely towns of Ashbourne to the south and Buxton to the north. Both offer major shops and supermarkets along with an array of pubs, cafes, independent shops and places of interest.
Hartington village itself has a couple of great local pubs, gift shops, a farm shop, village stores, a number of excellent tea rooms and of course the famous Hartington cheese shop!
Ash Tree Cottage is well situated for exploring the White Peak of the Peak District, with miles of footpaths, quiet lanes for cycling or pretty villages to enjoy. The bustling town of Bakewell – famous for its puddings! – is also just 20 minutes away by car.
Ash Tree Cottage is also perfectly placed to explore the beauty spot of Dovedale. A gentle stroll from the cottage will take you along the river through Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale, Mill Dale and into Dovedale. The stunning scenery and abundance of wildlife around the clear waters is breathtaking at any time of year.
