The Mermaid Inn is a stunning Grade II-listed former coaching inn, dating back to 1651. It has been tastefully restored and refurbished, keeping many original features while adding modern comforts, and offers perfect group accommodation for up to 34 people.

Set in a fabulous moorland location, with panoramic views over the Peak District, The Mermaid Inn is remote enough to be private and secluded, yet within only 20 minutes by car you can be in the historic towns of either Buxton or Leek.

This is perfect walking country, with stunning moorland scenery all around. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Peak District countryside, breathe in that fresh air and escape the stresses of daily life.

At The Mermaid Inn we understand that the key to a great venue is not just getting everyone together, but actually keeping everyone together.

Unlike many other properties that offer large group accommodation, The Mermaid Inn is a single residence where all the members of your party can sleep, live, cook and dine in one location together. Groups with young children can relax in the knowledge that the kids are safely tucked in upstairs, while the evening celebrations continue downstairs.

With 13 en-suite bedrooms, three comfortable lounges, a fully equipped kitchen, a huge dining room, even your very own ‘pub’ – you’ll find everything you need at The Mermaid Inn.

Accommodation at The Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn has 13 en-suite bedrooms. All bedrooms are flexible to the needs of your group and can be set up as either double rooms or twin rooms. We also have four family rooms which can sleep up to 4 people. Six of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, so are suitable for those with reduced mobility. All bed linen and towels are provided.

The Mermaid Inn has no less than three lounges for your group to relax in. All have comfortable leather sofas and one has a TV.

Of course, being a former pub, The Mermaid Inn also has its very own bar, complete with a beer fridge, decorative pumps, a pool table, a dart board, a karaoke machine and table football! There’s a further TV in the bar as well.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you’d need to cook up a feast for your group, including two Siemens ovens, two hobs, two dishwashers, a large American-style fridge freezer and a separate larder fridge, as well as all necessary pots, pans, cooking utensils and crockery.

And when you’ve created that perfect meal, one of the highlights of the Mermaid Inn is the 12 metre long dining room, with an 11 metre table that seats 34 people. The dining room has a wood-burning stove to keep everyone cosy, a stereo system and superb panoramic views from the windows.

Outside, The Mermaid Inn has a large garden area with picnic benches, a barbecue and the most stunning views beyond. Just perfect for enjoying a glass or two as the sun goes down!

Corporate Events at The Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn is the perfect venue for your corporate event, whether it’s a business meeting or a team-building day. Much more personal than a hotel, the informal setting of a shared house, combined with the secluded location of the Mermaid Inn, means that groups can really focus on the all-important business agenda, and the equally important socialising afterwards!

The large meeting/dining room can seat up to 34 people around a single table on comfortable, solid oak chairs. There are also three further breakout areas with comfortable leather sofas for smaller groups to convene away from the main meeting area. Finally, there is a large garden area with picnic benches and a barbecue for al fresco conferences when the sun is shining.
