This converted barn offers two gorgeous cottages, both with wood burning stoves and one with a luxurious outdoor Japenese Whirpool Bath! Each of the cottages sleep two people on on the edge of the pretty village of Winster, which can be booked individually, or together for groups of four. Located on a small equine farm, you’re likely to see beautiful dressage horses during your stay. The cottages are surrounded by 50 acres of rolling hills and breathtaking countryside, which can be enjoyed with uninterrupted views from the windows or walks straight from the door – including the nearby villages of Winster and Birchover with a selection of pubs!
Courtyard Cottage, sleeping two people, offers luxurious open plan living accommodation all on one level, with lots of original features and charm, including a wood burning stove, exposed timber beams and triple aspect windows, allowing light to flood in and providing views in every direction.
Courtyard Cottage has been furnished to a very high standard and has lots of special finishing touches to ensure guests have a fabulous, special stay.
The kitchen area is bright and modern with everything you could need during your stay, including hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. All kitchen utensils and crockery are provided, as well as handy store cupboard essentials. Guests are treated to a generous welcome pack too!
The king size bedroom at Courtyard Cottage is clean and bright, with crisp cotton sheets. There’s a large double wardrobe, so plenty of storage for those wishing to stay a little longer, and a lovely dressing table with easy chair.
Adjoining the bedroom is a spectacular shower room, which has room for two! There’s even a Bluetooth mirror so you can play your favourite music whilst enjoying a refreshing shower before or after a day exploring this wonderful area! Egyptian cotton towels and complimentary toiletries are also included.
Outside you can enjoy a coffee in the mornings or a refreshing drink in the evenings relaxing in the private garden with lawn area and patio set for two. There’s also a fabulous Japanese Whirlpool Bath, with fresh, steaming hot water and massage jets, which is the most idyllic way to relax your aching muscles and unwind in this peaceful setting. You can enjoy the stunning views in every direction and soak up the pure peace and quiet with only the sound of birdsong in this tranquil location – and maybe the odd neigh from the horses!

Westhills Courtyard is in a fabulous location. It’s less than a mile away from the pretty village of Winster, which has an excellent well stocked village shop that also houses the post office, and delightful village pubs serving home-cooked food and refreshing real ales. Winster also has numerous listed buildings and plenty of historical interest, making this a picturesque village well worth a visit. A mile and half down the road in the other direction is the ancient village of Birchover on the edge of Stanton Moor. In Birchover you’ll find two lovely village pubs serving great food and beer.
You can explore both of these villages with a Figure of 8 Walk written specifically for Courtyard Cottage that has full, easy-to-follow directions, and starts and ends right at the door.
Courtyard Cottage is situated very close to the Limestone Way, a long distance footpath that runs for 46 miles from Castleton in Derbyshire to Rocester in Staffordshire, passing through wonderful countryside on the way.
During your stay make sure you also explore the nearby attractions of Rowtor Rocks, Stanton Moor and Nine Ladies Stone Circle, all of which are easily accessible by foot.
For those wishing to explore a little further afield by car, just six miles away are the fabulous towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath, both of which are filled with great family attractions, including The Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom, as well as shops, arcades, crazy golf, a boating lake, cafés, pubs and much more.
Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just a 20-minute drive away, which are fabulous to explore both inside and out, with so much history and stunning gardens and parkland to enjoy.
Nearby towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Cromford are all great places to visit with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Or try out the delightful villages of Hartington, Monyash and Tissington. There really are so many places and walks to visit and enjoy from this perfect hideaway location.
