Stainsborough Cottages – Sleeps 2 to 23

Stainsbourgh Cottages are the perfect getaway for couples and families seeking a quiet, comfortable break in the Derbyshire countryside. There are five dog-friendly cottages in total, each sleeping 3-6 people, making them ideal for couples and families, each with their own private courtyard. If you’re looking for larger accommodation, you can book all the cottages together, accommodating up to 23 people, enabling you to be together but with your own bit of space too.

Five Delightful Cottages

There are five delightful Stainsborough Cottages, as follows:

Derwent Cottage (3 bedrooms / sleeps 6) and Dovedale Cottage (3 bedrooms / sleeps 6)

Derwent and Dovedale Cottages are the larger cottages at Stainsborough, both beautifully decorated, with bright cottage-style soft furnishings. Each sleeps 6 in three bedrooms, with open plan living/kitchen areas, plenty of comfy sofas for six, a wood burning stove and a Smart Television with FreeView, perfect for family nights in. The kitchens include dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, washing machine and a dining area with seating for six. The newly renovated bathroom includes a bath with shower over.

Derwent Cottage Bed configurations are as follows:
Bedroom 1 (Ground Floor) – King-size bed
Bedroom 2 (First Floor) – King-size bed
Bedroom 3 (First Floor) – Two single beds

Stainsborough Cottages 1 — Derwent Cottage

Dovedale Cottage Bed Configurations are as follows:
Bedroom 1 (Ground Floor) – Two single beds
Bedroom 2 (Second Floor) – King-size bed
Bedroom 3 (Second Floor) – Two single beds

Please note – if you are exceptionally tall (ie. over 6 ft 2 in) this is not the cottage for you as the attic bedroom in this cottage is a little lower than in the other cottages).

Stainsborough Cottages 2 — Dovedale Cottage

Henmore Cottage (2 bedrooms / sleeps 4) and Summer Cottage (2 bedrooms / sleeps 4)

These two cottages are both set over two floors with an open plan living/kitchen area and bathroom on the ground floor, and two bedrooms on the first floor. Each sleeps 4, with spacious living areas, ample seating, a log burner and a Smart TV, together with a dining area for four. Each of the kitchens include oven, hob, fridge (with freezer box at the top), microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, and Nespresso coffee machine.

The king-sized beds in all bedrooms can be configured as single or double beds.

Lathkill Cottage – 2 bedrooms / sleeps 3 – Accessible Accommodation

Lathkill is the smallest of the Stainsborough Cottages, ideal for two adults plus one child. As there are no steps into the cottage and it is all set on one level, with a walk-in shower and further aids available, it’s ideal for those with limited mobility. The open plan living room has sofas for four, a wood burning stove and a Smart TV. There is also a dining room table for four. The kitchen has all essentials including oven, hob, fridge (with freezer box at the top), microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, and Nespresso coffee machine.

Lathkill bed configurations are as follows:
Bedroom 1 (Ground Floor) – King-size bed
Bedroom 2 (Ground Floor) – One single bed

Dog Friendly Secure Gardens

Outside, each of the Stainsborough Cottages have a private, secure fenced patio area, making them ideal for those with dogs. The patio areas are bathed with sunshine, where you’ll find patio furniture to accommodate your group and a Weber barbecue. Overlooking the countryside and duck pond, or beautiful cottage gardens, they’re a wonderful space to relax with a morning coffee or a cool beer.

Group Bookings with Communal Kitchen & Dining Area

If you’re looking for larger group accommodation, then each of the Stainsborough Cottages can be booked together for up to 23 people in total. The five cottages enable guests to have their own bit of space, with the bonus of a fabulous communal kitchen and dining area enabling all guests to gather when required.

The communal kitchen is in a separate building, just across the courtyard, which includes two ovens, hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, large fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine, and dryer, together with all the cookware and glassware you could need for your party of 23.

Alongside the kitchen is a stylish dining area with original stonework and wall panelling, giving a real sense of character. There is plenty of seating for your party of 23 and comfortable sofas too, together with a large TV and sound system – perfect for business meetings or celebratory parties! In addition, there are two more toilets.

During your stay the helpful owners at Stainsborough Cottages are able to put you in touch with highly recommended outdoor caterers and organise pamper treatments or fun activities for larger groups. Of course, if you’re planning a special celebration, decorations can all be arranged ready for your arrival, so you can simply relax and enjoy the celebrations.

Stainsborough Cottages are set within beautiful, landscaped gardens, which are shared with Stainsborough Hall guests, with gorgeous blooming borders throughout the seasons for all to enjoy.

Shared with Stainsborough Hall, there’s also an outdoor play area and a fabulous tennis court with plenty of rackets and balls for you to borrow.

Located Close to Carsington Water

Stainsborough Cottages are located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, surrounded by beautiful countryside and just steps away from the shores of Carsington Water, where you can enjoy leisurely strolls spotting wildlife, hire bikes, or enjoy a range of water sports, making Stainsborough Cottages the perfect location for those seeking outdoor adventures. You are also near to the Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail, so if cycling is your thing, you will be spoilt for choice. In addition, being surrounded by countryside, means there are many walks to be enjoyed from the door too.

For those who choose to eat out, there are many bars and restaurants nearby, with one being just a mile away over the fields, preparing fresh, home-cooked food, perfect for a walk and a pint.

Just a couple of miles away you’ll find the historic town of Wirksworth. It boasts a wide range of independent shops and galleries, as well as plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, plus a lively farmers’ market. It has its own independent cinema and there are many attractions within the area, including the spectacular Star Disc, the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and the National Stone Centre.

Just six miles away is Matlock and Matlock Bath. Matlock has a great selection of shops and bars, whereas Matlock Bath has a real ‘seaside’ feel about it, with fish and chip shops, arcades and a boating lake. Here you will also be able to enjoy fabulous family days out at The Heights of Abraham and Matlock Farm Park.
