Fine Dining Restaurant & Relaxed Bar

The rich woods, lavish textures, original features and stonework of The Peacock at Rowsley give it a unique ambience like no other in the Peak District, enticing visitors from all over the world. The impressive dining room has fine views over the landscaped gardens, as well as a delightful sunny terrace, while the relaxed, charming bar has cosy armchairs, and crackling fires in the cooler months.

The indulgent fine dining restaurant has been awarded three AA rosettes, making it within the top 10% of restaurants in the country! Gastronomy is the key focus at The Peacock at Rowsley, using seasonal, quality, local produce, including beef and lamb reared on the Haddon estate, head chef Dan Smith produces the most impressive, creative dishes. A fabulous tasting menu can be enjoyed on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The bar menu is of the same high standard, using seasonal produce, offering more traditional dishes served in a relaxed, informal setting.  

Open to both residents and non-residents, The Peacock at Rowsley is also the perfect place to stop in for a refreshing pint in the cosy bar, or a fabulous cocktail or glass of chilled wine from their extensive wine menu, which is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon on the sunny terrace.

Fine dining restaurant is currently open Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Lunch is served from 12pm until 2pm.
Dinner is served from 7pm to 9pm. 

The bar is open daily for drinks, however, food is currently available Tuesday to Saturdays.

Private Dining & Conference

For those who are looking for private dining at The Peacock at Rowsley, all dining rooms are available to hire exclusively until 5pm for lunchtime dining, and from 6.30pm until 11.30pm for evening occasions. The main dining room can accommodate 4-20 people, whilst smaller rooms are available for 12 to 16 guests. If guests are having overnight stays, then all rooms are available all evening. Guests can enjoy a lunchtime menu and evening A La Carte menu, tailored to suit the needs and dietary requirements of all diners.

The conference facilities at The Peacock at Rowsley are incredibly grand with antique furniture, in two conference rooms with views over the splendid gardens. The Derwent Room is ideal for conferences of up to 12 people, and the Wye Room for up to 16 people. Tea and coffee is offered on arrival, together with a tailored lunch menu in the dining room which can accommodate up to 40. Projectors are also provided.

Boutique Rooms

The Peacock at Rowsley is renowned for having some of the most exquisite rooms in the area. There are 15 rooms in total, and guests can choose from either a bed and breakfast option, or bed, breakfast and dinner in the dining room restaurant. There are a selection of rooms ranging from comfortable single rooms for single travellers and business trips, through to beautiful luxurious suites. Each of the rooms has been individually decorated and furnished in the same wonderful style as the rest of this beautiful manor house, with antique furniture, luxury fabrics and sumptuous beds.

The delightful Single Rooms, Double Rooms and Superior King Sized rooms, each have marble bathrooms with either bath, shower, or both. There are also Special Rooms which are furnished with magnificent four poster beds that have been crafted on the Haddon Estate, and have marble bathrooms with bath and shower.

For the ultimate stay at The Peacock at Rowsley, The Suite has a super king sized bed and its very own sitting room, with marble bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. The sitting room sofa can be used as a sofa bed, making this an ideal room for families.

Fabulous Fly Fishing

Anglers travel from all over the world to fish at The Peacock at Rowsley, where you can enjoy exclusive fishing on the 15 miles of rivers that flow through ehe Haddon estate. There are four rivers to choose from: the Derwent, the Wye, the Lathkill and the Bradford. The Wye is renowned for being the only river in the UK that has both wild Spring-spawning rainbow trout and wild brown trout! 

Day tickets are only available to residents at The Peacock at Rowsley and those booking Guided Days, where you can benefit from half day or full day tuition. Fishing is also available for those who are part of The Peacock Fly Fishing Club, which also entitles you to a 15% discount on stays at The Peacock, demonstrations, meals, barbecues, talks and events.

Superb Location & Free Entry to Haddon Hall

The Peacock at Rowsley is located on the magnificent Haddon Estate in Derbyshire, only a 5 minute drive away from the medieval manor house of Haddon Hall, and residents at The Peacock, are all given complimentary entry tickets to enjoy during their stay. Known as one of the most beautiful medieval houses in England, and indeed one of the oldest houses in the country, Haddon Hall is a fabulous place to explore.  Inside, its historic rooms provide a sense of stepping back in time, whilst outside the beautiful gardens, with climbing roses and views over the river, are an absolute delight. The surrounding Haddon Medieval Park is an inspiring rewilding project where Nature has been allowed to flourish, and its acres of ancient landscape include an abundance of wildflower meadows, trees and wildlife, open to the public for guided wildlife walks and events.

Renowned for its stunning landscape, impressive heritage and wonderful leisure facilities, the Peak District National Park has something for everyone to enjoy. Rowsley itself is a pretty little village, surrounded by beautiful countryside, where the River Wye and River Derwent meet, providing lots of beautiful riverside walking routes and many footpaths from the door. Rowsley also has a selection of independent shops and two village pubs.  

The Peacock at Rowsley is also just 10 minutes from both Bakewell and Chatsworth. Bakewell has a fabulous selection of independent shops and eateries. One of the UK’s largest agricultural shows is hosted here each year, as is an annual arts festival, together with traditional well dressings and a bustling Christmas market. The impressive neighbouring Chatsworth Estate provides a superb day out, where tours of the house can be booked, as well as entry to the beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds. 

The location of The Peacock at Rowsley means that many more fabulous landscapes, pretty villages and bustling towns are all within easy reach, making this the ideal base to explore this fabulous part of the Peak District National Park.
