Exploring around The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop

The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop is right in the centre of Bakewell, so it's an easy place to include while spending a few hours exploring the town rather than somewhere that needs a separate journey.

Bakewell rewards wandering. Away from the busiest streets you'll find old stone buildings, courtyards and lanes, while the River Wye provides a completely different side to the town. Monday is particularly lively when the regular market takes place, but Bakewell has enough shops, cafés and historic character to make it worth visiting throughout the week.

If you want to combine the town with some time outdoors, the surrounding countryside offers plenty of possibilities. The traffic-free Monsal Trail is nearby and is particularly useful for walking or cycling, while villages including Ashford-in-the-Water and Monyash provide further options for exploring this part of the White Peak.

Bakewell is also extremely well placed for some of the Peak District's major historic attractions. Haddon Hall is just outside the town and Chatsworth is a short journey away, making it perfectly possible to combine Bakewell with a larger day out rather than treating the town as your only destination.
