Location

The Peak Hotel‘s location really does take some beating. Castleton itself is a fabulous village, surrounded by stunning scenery with an array of independent shops, tearooms and other pubs dotted along narrow lanes. It’s the perfect place to stay whilst exploring the area. At Christmas time you are central to the famous twinkling Castleton Christmas Lights, and in May watch out for the traditional Garland Ceremony.

There are many walks from the door, including the Castleton to Mam Tor Walk which is one of the most popular walks in the Peak District. It offers breaktaking views from the summit of Mam Tor, looking over the Hope Valley and Edale Valley, as a reward for a relatively easy climb.

Just a short distance away you’ll find Edale, which is the start/end of the Pennine Way, and also the gateway to Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, where you will discover waterfalls and rugged pathways.

Being central to the Peak District National Park, your choices really are limitless. Just a 15-minute drive will take you to the rugged Stanage Edge, which is great for hikers, climbers and even paragliders! Or just a 30 minute drive will take you to Haddon Hall, a spectacular mediaeval house, or the stately Chatsworth House, with its picturesque gardens and deer park.
