Originally owned by the Duke of Devonshire, the historic Hawthorn Farm is a 16th Century Grade II listed farmhouse on the edge of Buxton. It’s one of the oldest buildings in the area and is within easy walking distance of the centre of this elegant spa town.

You’ll find four comfortable B&B rooms at Hawthorn Farm, all with en-suite facilities and two delightful, pet friendly holiday cottages, Lavender Cottage (sleeping six) and Walnut Cottage (sleeping four), providing excellent self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people.

Hawthorn Farm is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful town of Buxton and its many visitor attractions, with the whole of the Peak District National Park on your doorstep.

Some of the B&B rooms are dog-friendly too!

Hawthorn Farm has four rooms available for guests, offering a range of rooms that can be configured according to your needs, to accommodate one, two, three or four people. If you have specific requirements beyond those listed then do get in touch. 

All rooms have ensuite bathrooms along with tea- and coffee-making facilities and TVs. Free wi-fi is available throughout the property.

Breakfast is served in the homely surroundings of the main house from 7:30 – 9:30am each morning. Owners Paul and Sarah are on hand to cater for any dietary needs you may have and offer cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, or a traditional full English breakfast.

The centre of beautiful Buxton and attractions such as the historic Opera House and Pavilion Gardens are just a pleasant 15-20 minute walk away. Your hosts are always happy to recommend local places to visit or the best places to eat depending on your requirements. And don’t forget that the hills and dales of the Peak District are right on the doorstep. 

If you want to explore the local area by bike or travel further afield by car, there’s plenty of room for car parking and secure cycle storage.

Your four-legged friends are very welcome at Hawthorn Farm for only a small additional charge, so they’re more than welcome to join Archie the English Setter and Dudley the Golden Retriever.

Lavender Cottage, part of a converted barn, provides self-catering accommodation for up to 6 people in three bedrooms. Cosy and homely, it has many original features, including traditional exposed beams and solid stone walls.

The ground floor accommodation comprises of one double bedroom with ensuite shower and toilet, and one double/twin room with ensuite shower/bath and toilet. 

Upstairs is a fully fitted and well equipped kitchen/diner with large table and seating, along with a spacious and comfortable open plan lounge. Also on the first floor is another double bedroom with ensuite slipper bath and toilet.

Outside is a private, pet-friendly, walled and gated garden area with outdoor seating and barbecue, and a lawned garden and seating area that is shared with the adjacent bed and breakfast.

There’s also secure cycle storage and private parking for 3 cars.

Walnut Cottage offers comfortable and cosy accommodation for up to four guests in a quiet, cul-de-sac location.

The living room has high-quality soft furnishings and a smart TV. The modern kitchen has all the appliances you should need including dishwasher and washing machine, ideal for families planning a longer stay and a dining table. The kitchen also direct access to the private garden area with patio furniture, perfect for a morning coffee.

On the ground floor there is also a super king-sized ensuite room, which can be made as twin beds on request. The ensuite has bath with over shower, and toilet. On the first floor is a galleried double bedroom with an en-suite shower room.

Outside there’s an enclosed front garden with patio and garden furniture. There is also private parking for two cars with electric car charging point. ​

Buxton

Hawthorn Farm is located in the historic spa town of Buxton, a gem of a place in the Derbyshire countryside and gateway to the Peak District National Park. Buxton has something for everyone, with stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture, beautiful parklands, quirky, independent shops, top-class theatre, fantastic dining and a vibrant local bar and pub scene.

Buxton and High Peak Golf Club is just a few minutes walk from Hawthorn Farm and is perfect for a scenic round of golf. If golf isn’t your thing then there are plenty of walks around the perimeter of the course and on out into the Peak District National Park.

The popular and pretty town of Bakewell and the stunning Hope Valley villages of Castleton, Hope and Hathersage are all just a short drive away. The historic Haddon Hall and the magnificent Chatsworth Estate are around 30 minutes away, as is the National Trust estate at Lyme Park

A drive of around 40 minutes will take you to the pretty market towns of Ashbourne or Matlock via the limestone valleys of the White Peak.
