Farmyard Inn

Nestled in the heart of the historic village of Youlgrave, surrounded by beautiful open countryside in the Peak District National Park, Farmyard Inn has everything you would expect a traditional country pub to offer, including a warm welcome for your four-legged friends! Situated on both the 46-mile footpath of the Limestone Way and the 90-mile circular White Peak Way, this is the ideal base from which to enjoy this stunning part of the Peak District.

Farmyard Inn is the ideal place for a refreshing pint, a delicious afternoon tea or a hearty home-cooked meal. And if you need more time to explore these wonderful rolling hills and dales, Farmyard Inn has four comfortable, fresh, chalet-style ensuite bedrooms for a relaxing overnight Bed & Breakfast stay or long weekend.

Farmyard Inn : Accommodation

The four chalet-style bedrooms at Farmyard Inn have recently been decorated to a high standard and have their own courtyard, away from the Inn itself, to provide that extra bit of privacy. Each has a newly-refurbished bathroom with powered rain shower.

The Pig Sty and The Cow Shed are both light, airy rooms with comfortable double beds. The Stable also has a crisp, clean feel and has a double bed, but is spacious enough to sleep a third person if required. Finally, The Sheep Pen is a twin room with a bright, fresh decor. The rooms can, of course, be booked collectively for group bookings.

All overnight stays include a hearty breakfast in the Farmyard Inn itself, providing the perfect start to your day exploring the breathtaking surrounding countryside.

The village of Youlgreave
Beautiful Youlgrave

Farmyard Inn can be found in the centre of Youlgrave (also known as Youlgreave), a beautiful Peak District Village surrounded by stunning countryside. It stands on a limestone shelf above the confluence of Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale, with the crystal-clear rivers running through the valleys below.

The village hosts an annual music and art festival, the Youlgreave Festival, founded in 2001. And if you visit in June, don’t miss the elaborate Well Dressings displayed throughout the streets, always a deservedly popular attraction.

Explore the wonderful history of this village, or follow one of the footpaths that take you for miles through beautiful rolling hills and into some of the most picturesque dales in the Peak District.

To make the most of this beautiful landscape, why not follow the Let’s Go Peak District 7 mile walk while you’re in the village? The fabulous route starts and ends in Youlgrave, following the crystal-clear River Bradford through shady woodland before heading across open countryside into Lathkill Dale. It then follows the course of the River Lathkill through dramatic limestone gorges before returning along field tracks and country lanes to the start point.

If you’d prefer more level walking or a day of cycling, just a few miles away you’ll find the Tissington, High Peak and Monsal Trails. These former railway lines all offer relatively flat easy strolling through wonderful open countryside.

Only a 10 minute drive away is the lovely town of Bakewell, famed for its pudding, but also offering a great selection of independent and High Street shops, as well as wonderful walks alongside the River Wye. The romantic fairytale country house of Haddon Hall is nearby, with its fantastic gardens, and only a few miles more takes you to the stately home of Chatsworth House, with its lavish interiors and acres of parkland.
