Camping, Glamping & Self Catering

Whether you’re a camper, a glamper, or looking for fully-fledged self-catering holiday accommodation in an unbeatable location, then Newfold Farm is the place to be! The variety of camping options enables all your family to join in the fun. If you’re an experienced camper with all the equipment, then the grass or hard standing pitches are for you. If you want to give camping a try but don’t yet have camping essentials, then join your friends and family by staying in one of the fully furnished bell tents. Or maybe you really do prefer the comfort of four walls – then you can still be in on the fun by staying in the onsite holiday cottage, sleeping up to 6!

Newfold Farm’s campsite has been very carefully laid out to ensure that the site is as traffic-free as possible, making it a safe and enjoyable place for families to enjoy this wonderful outdoor space whilst relaxing and taking in the wonderful surrounding landscape.


Wonderful Campsite with Dramatic Views

The largest camping field at Newfold Farm is Grouse Field, a large, traffic-free grass field for tents with gorgeous views of the Edale Valley. Visitors can soon enjoy the brand-new shower and toilet block here too – due to be ready March 2024. Separate parking is available adjacent to the field.

Sparrowhawk Field at Newfold Farm offers a mix of grass pitches, suitable for tents and campervans, and hardstanding pitches for caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and roof top tents, with electric hook up available. This field has close proximity to all facilities, and fabulous views of the Great Ridge.

As you can imagine, due to the facilities and fabulous location, in the peak season Newfold Farm can be very popular, so to allow more space and freedom, Curlew Field is an overflow field which cannot be booked, but can be allocated on arrival during busier times.

You’ll be pleased to hear that all camping fields at Newfold Farm are dog-friendly too, so your four-legged friends can join in the adventures! (Please note that dogs are not allowed in the Bell Tents.)

Glamping Bell Tents

The fabulous bell tents at Newfold Farm are all spaciously yet sociably clustered in the Lapwing Field, with easy access through to Sparrowhawk and all onsite facilities, making the bell tents a great way to spend time with friends and family and enjoy glamping at its best.

The bell tents are suitable for both families and couples with comfortable king-sized and twin beds. With soft snuggly pillows and duvets, you’ll be tucked up warm and snug! To enable you to enjoy the camping lifestyle to the full, each of the bell tents includes:

  • Camping stove
  • Essential cooking equipment
  • Table and chairs
  • Kettle
  • Wash bowl
  • Lantern
  • Soft, clean towels
  • Outdoor fire pit
  • No electric – available at nearby reception

You can simply turn up and enjoy relaxing camping to the full!


Facilities

Newfold Farm strives to offer the very best facilities and continues to make improvements each year, such as the brand new shower and toilet block in the Grouse Field due to open in March 2024, in addition to the spotless shower block already in place at Sparrowhawk. During your stay, you can currently enjoy:

The Fold – Licensed Café & Bar

The Fold Licensed Café and Bar can be enjoyed by both campers at Newfold Farm and visitors to Edale. Serving breakfast and lunch all year round, together with regular, seasonal, evening specials on Friday and Saturday, it’s really handy for campers, but with such a unique menu it’s incredibly popular with visitors to Edale too!

Encouraging the ‘miles to plate’ philosophy, wherever possible The Fold Café uses locally-sourced ingredients to produce tasty seasonal dishes, including meat from the village butcher in Edale, dairy produce from Tideswell and wines from nearby Hathersage.

Visitors can enjoy a delicious breakfast before they head out, with a variety of options ranging from “The Full Fold” breakfast with either artisan or vegan sausage, Breakfast Butties or specials such as “Newfold Benny” with poached eggs, crispy bacon, homemade black pudding, avocado, hollandaise and crispy onions, served on a giant buttered crumpet.

Lunch is equally as good at The Fold Café, with a fabulous selection of freshly made hot and cold sandwiches, as well as hearty favourites such as pie and chips, vegetarian gnocchi, and burgers, all with The Fold’s very own twist. There’s a choice of meats and vegan sausage for Sunday Lunch, each served with caramelised peanut carrots, buttered seasonal greens, mashed potatoes, goose fat roasted potatoes, extra mature cheddar cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding. As you can see, the menu at Newfold Farm really is special and definitely worth a try!

Village Shop

Newfold Farm’s onsite village shop is very popular with campers, visitors to Edale and even a hit with the locals too. Stocking essential grocery items, together with locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetables, local dairy produce, meats and freshly baked bakery goods, it has pretty much everything you could need during your stay. In addition, there are lots of locally-produced goods and gifts, including those all-important real ales!

Self-Catering Holiday Cottage – The Old Post House

The Old Post House is based on site at Newfold Farm, sleeping up to 6 people, with tremendous views of the surrounding countryside.

This period cottage retains lots of original features including stone window surrounds and timber beams, giving a lovely, homely feel. The large kitchen-diner has a traditional country look with modern appliances, including a washing machine, for a home-from-home stay. The lounge is inviting and cosy with a stove and television.

There are three bedrooms in total, two super king-sized rooms (which can be swapped to twins if required), and one comfortable double, so the cottage is great for both families and smaller groups of friends wishing to travel together. Each bedroom is spacious and bright and all have been tastefully decorated. You will also find three bathrooms with showers and a bath.

Spectacular Location

Newfold Farm’s location really does have the wow factor!  Edale is tucked away at the end of the Edale Valley, surrounded by the stunning slopes of Kinder Scout, the Great Ridge of Mam Tor and Win Hill, making for the most dramatic backdrop during your stay. In turn, this proves to be one of the most popular hiking destinations in the whole of the Peak District National Park, with numerous walks for all abilities right from the door, including the very start of the Pennine Way!

Edale itself is a picturesque village with pretty, country lanes and stone cottages, two fabulous village pubs serving food, and another lovely little café. Just five miles away, via Winnats Pass, a popular cycling route, is the delightful village of Castleton, with a great selection of bars, cafés and shops. Likewise, the nearby village of Hope has lots to offer visitors, with more shops and eateries.

In addition to hiking, Edale is a popular destination for cyclists and those who enjoy other outdoor adventures, such as rock climbing and caving in the many nearby caverns that this beautiful area of the Peak District has to offer.
