The Old Granary is an award-winning holiday cottage and glamping cabin, set amid idyllic Derbyshire countryside, high on the edge of the Peak District overlooking an undulating patchwork of fields. Close to the pretty market town of Matlock, this lovingly converted stone barn has been restored to the very highest standards, providing luxurious, spacious accommodation in a perfect location.

About The Old Granary and The Cabin

Set in five acres of private landscaped gardens on the edge of the Peak District National Park, there is so much to explore right from the door, with miles of footpaths winding through gently rolling hills. There are quaint towns and villages very close by, with independent shops, cafés and galleries to enjoy. And there is no shortage of cosy country pubs to relax in after a day out enjoying the fresh air!

The Old Granary sleeps up to 6 people and is the perfect location for a family holiday or a get-together with friends, whilst The Cabin provides additional accommodation, or a romantic retreat for 2.

Downstairs you’ll find a spacious lounge, with an electric stove, original oak beams and a terracotta-tiled floor with underfloor heating.

The old country style doesn’t mean that you’ll miss out on modern amenities though – you’ll also find a 40in LCD television, a DVD surround-sound system, a Blu-ray player, a CD player and an iPod docking station that plays music through ceiling speakers positioned throughout the cottage.

The cosy kitchen/dining room is perfect for sharing family meals together. It has traditional painted, hand-made cabinets with granite worktops, a Belfast sink, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing facility, two fridges, a small freezer and an LCD TV with Freeview channels. For cooking up a feast you’ll love the electric range cooker, but there’s also a microwave, Dualit four-slot toaster, kettle, Dualit coffee machine and a Graef coffee grinder.

The kitchen has a door leading on to a patio area with amazing views over the surrounding countryside, and side windows overlooking the orchard.

The Old Granary sleeps six guests, plus travel cot, over three bedrooms (two en-suite), all with luxurious king size beds and 24” smart TVs. Two of the king bedrooms have French cane beds and original oak beams. An interlinking door connects two of the king size rooms, making it the perfect set up for families. There is a further separate family bathroom.

Finally, for perfect relaxation and indulgence outside, what better than a dip in the Jacuzzi hydrotherapy hot tub? It has seven seats, colour-changing lights and a waterfall, all overlooking the fantastic open views.

Included in the price of your stay at The Old Granary is a Welcome Pack of wine, chocolates, six free range eggs from the chickens, homemade cake, artisan bread, local butter, tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

All kitchen essentials are provided, including kitchen towelling, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, washing up liquid, cling film, kitchen foil, sandwich bags, bin bags, dishcloth, hand wash dispenser and shower gel and conditioner dispensers.

Mattress protectors and pillow protectors are fitted as standard in the bedrooms.

Either feather or non-allergenic microfibre duvets and pillows can be provided.

Please note that The Old Granary and The Shepherd’s Hut do not permit smoking, vaping or the use of e-cigarettes or candles.

Change over days are Mondays and/or Fridays. Please check availability for a minimum three night stay.

The Cabin (Sleeps 2)

The cabin is a cosy retreat for two adults, which is available to rent either with The Old Granary or on its own.

The Cabin is idyllically positioned in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty amongst its own wildflower meadow with beautiful blossom trees, and uninterrupted views of the Derbyshire countryside which are a joy to behold both day and night. The Cabin offers luxury accommodation for up to two guests, perfect for a solo break or a romantic retreat. Enjoy a morning coffee, listening to the bird song as the sun rises, or take a nice, long bath in the outdoor bath in an evening as the sun sets.

Your pets are welcome here too!

Your small or medium-sized dogs are welcome at The Old Granary, and one small dog in The Cabin, by prior arrangement – they’ll love their holiday here as much as you will! There are lots of wonderful walks in the area as well as dog-friendly pubs and restaurants nearby. Please note that there is a small additional charge of £10 per dog, per night to cover the cost of additional cleaning and laundry etc.

The Old Granary Location

The Old Granary is set amid the most stunning Derbyshire countryside, perfect as a base from which to explore the Peak District National Park. There are footpaths directly from the door of the barn.

Only a short drive away you’ll find wonderful sightseeing and shopping in the beautiful towns of Matlock, Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton.

The gracious country estates of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by, as are Hardwick Hall and Tissington Hall.
