The White Hart Inn at Moorwood Moor is a contemporary hotel and restaurant, full of elegance and rustic charm, between Alfreton and Matlock on the edge of the Peak District National Park. In April 2023 The White Hart Inn opened its doors to showcase its fabulous new Fork & Furrow Restaurant, offering a culinary experience like no other!

With a romantic sweeping driveway, surrounded by beautiful Derbyshire countryside, The White Hart Inn is also a spectacular wedding venue, with a choice of ceremony rooms such as the stylish Moorwood Suite and the stunning Orangery. There are also 17 boutique rooms which are ideal for the wedding guests and for visitors looking for a special place to stay and to enjoy gastronomy at its best!

The Fork & Furrow Restaurant

The Fork & Furrow Restaurant at The White Hart Inn offers a fabulous dining experience, and an exquisite menu to match! Proud of their ‘field to fork’ concept, the passionate chefs use fresh, local ingredients to produce wonderful seasonal menus.

The White Hart Inn is a characterful building and the restaurant and bar are both contemporary, yet rustically charming. With exposed stone walls, upcycled solid wood furniture, contemporary lighting, and lots of decorative greenery, they are cosy and stylish, making you feel somewhere special, yet relaxed enough to welcome dogs and muddy boots at lunch! Outside there is the most magnificent terrace with lots of outdoor seating, but most importantly, fabulous views of the surrounding grounds and countryside.

Lunch is served Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, with a superb selection of mouthwatering smaller plates and delicious meals. As dogs are welcome at the lunchtime and Sunday sittings, it’s ideal for those walking in the surrounding Derbyshire countryside. Evening meals are served Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm to 8.30pm with another fabulous menu to suite all tastes and diets.

As you can imagine, The Fork & Furrow’s Sunday lunch, served from 12pm to 4.30pm, is excellent. There’s an array of starters and a great choice of local meats, fish and vegetarian options, and if you have room for dessert, you’re in for a treat!

The changing seasonal menus each have vegetarian and vegan dishes and a popular children’s menu too, so there is always something for everyone to enjoy.

Please note, the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, however bar snacks are available for residents, as well as a complimentary shuttle to The White Hart’s nearby sister venue.

Boutique Hotel Suites

There are 17 stylish hotel suites at The White Hart Inn, each promising comfortable beds, immaculate bathrooms, and stunning countryside views. Each of the suites have been individually designed, styled, and furnished to create luxurious accommodation with a relaxing feel.

Weddings & Parties at The White Hart Inn

The White Hart Inn makes the most fabulous wedding and party venue, catering for wedding parties ranging from intimate groups of 30 right up to flamboyant gatherings of 160! The expert wedding team will help you create the perfect day with a variety of bespoke packages to suit a range of budgets, so whether you are looking say ‘I do’ at The White Hart Inn, or simply wishing to host your wedding reception here, the team will work with you to make it a day to remember, not only for you, but for your guests too!

The sweeping driveway, the fabulous grounds, the panoramic views, the gorgeous reception rooms and spacious terrace, make The White Hart Inn the perfect canvas for you to create your special day. You can even bring your dog to join in your celebrations if you wish!

The Moorwood Suite is a stylish room with country decor, perfect for hosting both your ceremony and reception, with space for 120 ceremony guests and 160 party goers at the evening reception! With a private bar, dance floor and a huge private terrace with wood burners, quite simply, it’s the perfect place to host a party!

The Orangery is the most elegant place to hold a ceremony for up to 70 guests. Light floods in and has the most magical feel, with special finishing touches that can be added at your wish such as falling flowers, floral arches and rustic lanterns.

The Wingfield Lounge is ideal for smaller parties such as birthdays, anniversaries and baby showers. With room for 45 guests, it has a lovely intimate feel with a private bar and outdoor space.

The team at The White Hart Inn will work with you to facilitate those extra special touches, and have many on offer of their own, such as nacho machines and sweet carts, which are sure to be a bit hit with your guests. There’s also a great choice for your wedding menu, ranging from canapés to main meals and desserts, though to moreish buffets and street food stalls. Of course, the celebrations don’t end there! Remember there are 17 rooms available for guests, including the luxurious honeymoon suite, so guests can meet with the married couple in the morning for a delicious breakfast to discuss the splendour of the day before!

Countryside Location

The White Hart Inn would locally be described as ’out in the sticks’, but this is what makes it so special! On the edge of the Peak District National Park, it’s surrounded by country lanes and rolling Derbyshire landscape, yet is just 15 minutes from Junction 28 of the M1, so it’s easy for visitors and guest to reach too.

The White Hart Inn at Moorside Moor, is located in South Wingfield, a lovely little village full of rural character. It’s just a mile from Wessington, where you’ll find a vineyard which offers regular tours and events. On the outskirts of the Peak District National Park, there are many Derbyshire delights to enjoy, such as Crich Tramway Village which is just 3 miles away, and the ’seaside town’ of Matlock which is just 6 miles away. The historic village of Cromford with its wonderful canal walks is just 8 miles away.

The Peak District itself is within easy reach and has so many pretty villages, walking and cycling routes, and a huge selection of outdoor activities, not to mention the numerous footpaths right from the door of The White Hart Inn, making it a favourite place for walkers to call in, or stay over whilst exploring this beautiful area.
