Parson’s Barn is a beautiful 300 year old converted barn in the picturesque village of Hartington, in a truly stunning part of the Peak District National Park

This lovely Peak District holiday cottage oozes character, with timber beams and original stone. It has three bedrooms with space for 6-8 people, so it’s an ideal choice for large families or two smaller families wanting to share. Parson’s Barn is dog friendly too, so you can even bring your furry friend along for the adventure!

Perfectly located to enjoy many of the most popular areas of the Peak District, Hartington is an idyllic village with two pubs serving great food, lovely tea rooms, a great selection of shops, including a famous cheese shop, and even a duck pond!

The large lounge at Parson’s Barn is full of character, with original timber beams and feature stonework.  With three windows and a large arched glass door leading to the kitchen area, it feels cosy, yet light, airy and spacious too.

There are two large sofas, so plenty of room for everyone to curl up in front of the log-burning fire after a day out in the Peak District National Park. You can also enjoy watching your favourite films and shows on the Sky TV.

Through the arched doors you’ll find the huge, immaculate kitchen and dining area. With more timber beams, and crisp, clean units, the kitchen has a lovely country feel. There’s loads of cupboard space, with all the necessary essentials and plenty of storage. There is also a dishwasher, a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a large fridge freezer, perfect for longer stays.

The dining table comfortably seats six. With the delightful garden leading straight from the kitchen, it’s a great place to enjoy a coffee in the morning, or your meal on a sunny evening.

There is also a downstairs cloakroom. 

Bedrooms

On the first floor at Parson’s Barn there are three stylishly decorated bedrooms, each with a tower fan for keeping you cool on warmer nights. 

The first is a luxurious King sized room, with an en-suite bathroom including bath with overhead shower. 

The second is a snug double bedroom, and finally the third comprises two single beds which can be pushed together to create another double if required.

Both second and third bedrooms also have pull-out beds, providing room to squeeze in two smaller guests. 

From the picture windows, there are beautiful views over the village and surrounding countryside.

Finally, on the first floor there’s a stylish, clean family bathroom, again with bath and overhead shower.

The south facing garden at Parsons Barn enjoys sunshine all day.   Enclosed, private and spacious, with plenty of seating, it’s the perfect place to start your day with a coffee, listening to the birds from the beautiful surrounding countryside.

There is an outdoor dining table that seats six, plus other seating areas to make the most of the sun or shade. There’s also a bbq, perfect for a bit of al fresco dining at the end of a busy day.

There is also a rotary clothes line, and off-street parking for two cars.

Parsons Barn is located in the beautiful Peak District village of Hartington, with its beautiful stone buildings, gathered around the old market square and duck pond. There’s a great selection of local food and gift shops, as well as two wonderful country pubs, a farm shop, the famous Hartington cheese shop and plenty of cafés.

The area around Hartington is a particularly picturesque part of the Peak District National Park, and a walker’s paradise. The village is located close to the Tissington Trail, a 13 mile long walking/cycling trail from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne that runs through the most spectacular White Peak countryside.

Hartington is also within easy reach of the stunning Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Dovedale, all fabulous locations for walking. Bikes can also be hired from Parsley Hay Station.

The wonderful area of Dovedale is a pleasant riverside stroll from Hartington. One of the best loved beauty spots in the Peak District, and indeed one of the most visited natural sites in Britain, its steep, verdant crags tower above the River Dove as it tumbles through the valley, crossed by a picture-perfect set of stepping stones.

Hartington is within easy driving distance of the bustling towns of Matlock, Ashbourne and Leek. All boast a great range of shops, restaurants and attractions, including the Crich Tramway Village and the Heights of Abraham Cable Cars in Matlock.

You’re also within easy driving distance of the ancient market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings and tarts. And for great family days out you’ll find the country house estates of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.

For local walks in this area, check out the Let’s Go Peak District Walk that starts and ends in Hartington – Hartington Dales (5 miles). Alternatively, try the beautiful route that starts and ends from nearby Dovedale – Dovedale, Hall Dale and Ilam Walk (6 miles).
