The garden then leads upwards past an enclosed lawn to the second elevated terrace at the top of the garden, where you can sit and admire the views of the surrounding rolling hills and beautiful countryside for miles around!

To the front of the property there is a large driveway for up to three cars, making this great for couples travelling together.

For those who like to cycle, there is also secure bike storage available. The traffic-free Monsal Trail is easily accessible within just a few moments from the front door.

Fabulous Location

In addition to West Lodge’s beautiful accommodation, is its fabulous location! Or why not enjoy a riverside walk to the picturesque village of Ashford-in-the-Water? This delightful little village has a charming sheep wash bridge over the River Wye, pretty lanes lined with traditional stone cottages, a village pub and a lovely tea room.

West Lodge is situated on Monyash Road which, as the name suggests, leads directly to another popular Peak District Village – Monyash. Just four miles away, this quaint village has both a village green and picturesque pond, together with a pub serving food and a tea room. From Monyash you can enjoy walks through to beautiful Lathkil Dale, which makes for the most relaxing riverside walk and the perfect place for picnicking.

West Lodge is also central to two of the most popular tourist attractions in the Peak District National Park. In around 10 minutes, you can be exploring Haddon Hall, a beautiful medieval manor house, or Chatsworth House with its huge landscaped gardens and deer park.

For those who like to cycle, West Lodge is also close to The Monsal Trail, a great 8.5 mile, traffic-free route running from Bakewell to Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale, taking in some of the most picturesque areas of the Peak District such as Millers Dale and Cressbrook, and passing over the impressive viaduct at Monsal Head. For those without bikes, don’t worry, these can be hired at Hassop, where there is also another fabulous tea room and gift shop.

West Lodge is the perfect base in which to enjoy all that the Peak District National Park has to offer! Whether that’s enjoying a leisurely stroll around the pretty villages and treating yourself to coffee and cake, browsing around the shops in Bakewell, or exploring the many nearby footpaths that traverse this beautiful area.
