Located on the riverside in Ambergate on the edge of the Peak District, the Great British Car Journey is a wonderful, family-friendly visitor attraction with plenty to keep all generations happy.
There are over 100 classic British cars on display here, charting the course of British motor manufacturing through the ages. See examples of everything from the classic Austin 7 and the magnificent Morris Minor, right up to the sleek McLaren 650S and the iconic DeLorean, the car famous for its starring role in the Back to the Future movies.
Fully interactive audio-visual displays allow you to find out more about each make and model and tell the stories behind the cars, as well as the pioneers and entrepreneurs who built them.
There are plenty of activities for children too, and a café to revive you after your heady trip back in time.
The Great British Car Journey is the incredible story of the engineering, enterprise and endeavour which, for a classic period, saw British cars rule the road.
At the Great British Car Journey you can get behind the wheel to enjoy a true trip back in time, and drive one of more than 30 classic British cars: your Dad’s car, your Mum’s car, maybe even your own first car! Pull out the choke, wind down the window and experience an unforgettable journey down memory lane.
Your trip lasts for 20 minutes with an instructor, and cars are equipped with digital cameras to record the moment (but no other modern frills). The price of your driving experience includes free entry to the Great British Car Journey.
The Great British Car Journey is located on the A6 between Belper and Matlock, only 10 miles from Junction 28 of the M1. SAT NAV: The postcode is DE56 2HE.
