Beautiful Bedrooms

The Breckland sleeps up to 10 people in four gorgeous bedrooms, and a sofa bed which is conveniently positioned out of the way in the lounge. All the rooms are furnished to the same high standard, with comfortable beds, crisp white sheets and plenty of storage space. One of the rooms has TV with fire stick, so you can stream all your favourite Netflix channels.

The master bedroom is situated on the first floor. It has a queen-sized bed and a fabulous, spacious ensuite shower room.

On the ground floor, there are two attractive king-sized rooms (both of which can be split to make two singles in each room), and a delightful, bright double room which overlooks the garden and surrounding landscape. Also on the ground floor is a large, modern family bathroom with bath and over shower.

Amazing Garden

The games room is one of the wonderful things about The Breckland, but another has to be the garden and surrounding farmland! It’s simply idyllic! Imagine gazing out of the window, across the country lane, to see fields of grazing sheep, or having a morning coffee watching wild deer passing through the farmland.

The Breckland 9

The garden itself is enclosed and wraps right around The Breckland so it is perfect for dogs. There’s lots of lawned space and two patios with furniture, so there’s certainly plenty of space for everyone! Obviously, the wow factor here though is the large hot tub, which is such a great way to relax, come sun, rain or even snow! Imagine soaking up the sunshine on the sun loungers, with just the sound of birds and farm life, while the children happily enjoy the provided swing ball and badminton sets. For those who enjoy a little alfresco dining, there is also a large barbecue and direct access to the kitchen.

There is also a generous amount of parking for 4-6 cars.

Pre-Wedding Venue & Honeymoon Suite

As there is a popular wedding venue just a short, romantic boat ride away, The Breckland is very popular with blushing brides to be, their bridesmaids and proud parents. Imagine drinks in the hot tub the night before the big day, with plenty of room for everyone to sleep and lots of space for hairdressers and beauticians when the big day arrives. Then the best bit of all – imagine the photographs, as you arrive in style travelling by boat down the picturesque Macclesfield Canal! Of course, The Breckland then becomes the most romantic honeymoon suite for the new couple, who no doubt will want to start married life with a refreshing morning dip in the hot tub!

Excellent Location

The Breckland is located on Sugar Lane Farm, just a short stroll from the small, picturesque yet bustling village of Bollington. Despite Sugar Lane’s peaceful setting, Bollington itself has a surprising amount of bars, restaurants, cafés and independent shops, which makes for a wonderful trip out in itself. Many of the bars and restaurants have lovely beer gardens, some of which overlook the picturesque Macclesfield Canal which winds its way through the village.

The Macclesfield Canal is just a stone’s throw from The Breckland. This beautiful canal stretches for 26 miles, also passing through Congleton and Macclesfield, through lush green countryside, and past beautiful Victorian Mills. The canal can be enjoyed by hiring a boat for the day, or you can simply enjoy a cycle or leisurely stroll along the tree-lined tow path. Whether you are boating, cycling or walking, there are lots of bars dotted along the canal for you to call in for a bite to eat or a drink.

Another great place for walkers and cyclists is the Middlewood Way, which again is just a short walk from The Breckland. This former railway line is now an accessible bridleway, providing an 11 mile, traffic-free route running from Macclesfield to Marple with lovely views over the Cheshire Plain and an abundance of wildlife.

The Breckland 12

No trip to Bollington would be right without a hike up to White Nancy. Originally built in about 1815 as a summer house by the Gaskell family, who lived below the hill at Ingersley Hall, it commemorates the victory of the Battle of Waterloo. Nowadays, White Nancy is a historical landmark on Kerridge Hill from which there are extensive views across the Cheshire Plain towards the mountains of North Wales, the Shropshire hills and the Pennines, so it’s well worth the 30 minute walk from The Breckland.

Just a 10-minute drive takes you to the historic town of Macclesfield, where you’ll find so many interesting things to do. There are stately homes, historic houses, glorious gardens, museums, galleries, pretty little churches and canal boats for hire, as well as a great selection of shops and delicious places to eat.

Not only do you have all those attractions on your doorstep, The Breckland is also on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The pretty village of Rainow is just a 10-minute drive (with views right over to the Welsh hills), and many other popular Peak District villages and towns are around a 30 minute drive, such as Flash (the highest village in England), and Allgreave (a picturesqe village overlooking the Dane Valley). In turn, these provide walking routes with some of the finest views over the surrounding counties and beyond.

One thing is for sure, you won’t be short of things to do, experience and enjoy at The Breckland, whatever the weather! Go and give it a try for yourself!
