Handmade jewellery that brings you closer to nature!
Coppertop Jewellery is a Sheffield-based jewellery brand founded by Caroline, specialising in handmade silver and copper jewellery inspired by the natural world. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and carefully crafted to celebrate the beauty found in nature — from delicate botanical forms to organic textures and patterns drawn from the landscape.
Sustainability sits at the heart of Coppertop Jewellery. Every item is handmade using recycled silver and copper, helping to reduce environmental impact while supporting ethical and responsible production. Caroline works with precious metal clay alongside traditional silversmithing techniques, allowing her to recreate intricate botanical details with exceptional care and craftsmanship. Her designs often begin with real natural materials, such as leaves and flowers, which are transformed into elegant, lasting pieces of jewellery.

After a 25-year career as a doctor, Caroline turned her long-standing passion for jewellery making into a full-time creative practice. With over four years of hands-on experience, she continues to refine her skills and was invited to join the Guild of Master Craftsmen in 2024, alongside completing her Diploma in Silver Jewellery with the Jewellers Academy. Her background brings a thoughtful, meticulous approach to every piece she creates.
Coppertop Jewellery is sold online and through a carefully curated selection of stockists and artisan venues. This includes Chatsworth House Orangery Shop, where Caroline is developing an exclusive botanical collection inspired by the gardens, as well as The Yard Gallery (Leah’s Yard), Michael Claxton Gallery, Wickwire in Sheffield, Ms Gallery in Chesterfield, and artisan craft events across the UK. Choosing Coppertop Jewellery means investing in beautifully made, sustainable jewellery that supports a skilled independent maker and a more mindful approach to fashion.

Why the name Coppertop?
‘Coppertop’ is a traditional nickname for someone with red hair and reflects the personal story behind the brand.
What materials are used?
Jewellery is crafted using recycled silver and copper, including fine silver (999), sterling silver (925), and precious metal clay. Gold and brass are occasionally used in mixed-metal designs.
Why use recycled metals?
Recycled metals reduce the need for mining, lower energy use and emissions, and support ethical, sustainable jewellery production.
What is precious metal clay?
It is made from recycled metal particles combined with a natural binder. Once fired, it becomes solid pure metal, allowing for intricate and detailed designs.
How are leaves turned into silver?
Natural leaves are used to create moulds, capturing their texture and form. The finished jewellery contains no organic material.
Do you offer custom pieces?
Caroline is happy to discuss custom work via email or social media. Designs are quoted individually and may cost more due to design and sourcing time. Custom pieces usually require a deposit or upfront payment.
Why did a doctor start making jewellery?
After qualifying as a doctor in 1998 and spending 25 years in the NHS, Caroline had to step away from medicine for health reasons. Jewellery making began as a creative hobby and grew into a passion that led to Coppertop Jewellery.
What inspires the designs?
Nature is the main influence — from woodland walks to trips into the Peak District. Patterns found in flora and landscapes are often reflected in the jewellery.
Why does handmade jewellery cost more?
Each piece is individually made through multiple skilled stages using ethical materials. Pricing reflects craftsmanship, time, and sustainable production.
How is Coppertop Jewellery sustainable?
The brand uses recycled metals, FSC-certified packaging, small-batch production, responsibly sourced gemstones where possible, and UK suppliers to minimise environmental impact.
